The Federal Government has summoned the leadership of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN and the management of Dangote Refinery to an emergency meeting over ongoing rift between the duo. The government also urged PENGASSAN members nationwide to reconsider its strike over its dispute with Dangote Refinery.


The Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has dismissed reports claiming that over 100 people died in the gold mine pit collapse in Jabaka village, Maru LGA of Zamfara State. In a statement on Sunday, Segun Tomori, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, Dele Alake, confirmed that 13 miners were recovered dead from the collapsed pit, contrary to earlier figures quoted by residents and media outlets.

 The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says its operatives have intercepted major drug consignments destined for terrorists and bandits in Borno and Yobe states, arresting suppliers and two notorious drug kingpins in Lagos. According to the agency, the suspects were arrested at Njimtilo village, Borno, on September 27, while driving a Mercedes Benz GLK with 39,380 pills of tramadol and exol-5 hidden in the engine compartment.

 The Forward Operating Base (FOB), Escravos of the Nigerian Navy says it has deactivated six illegal refining sites in Warri South Local Government of Delta. Navy Capt. Ikenna Okoloagu, the Commanding Officer of the FOB, Escravos, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Warri. Okoloagu said that the illegal refining sites were dismantled at Obodo Omadino Community.
