INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD 

Every year, especially around my birthday, I give myself a pep talk about spending more time taking care and investing in myself and my mental health. 

A few months later, I forget everything and keep up my old habit of putting myself last and everyone first.

Few days ago a much older friend that I admire who is also a medical doctor spoke to me about stress and the dangers and the importance of taking out time to rest and also focusing more on intentionally pursuing an all round balanced approach to life.

One of the questions she asked me was “ what makes you happy outside the kids and your husband”?. Find them pursue and protect that happiness, and this had me thinking a lot, drawing up a list of what I love, most of them I discovered I don’t do them any more under the guise of there is hardly time for them.

 One of them is sketching, I love to sketch out clothes designs, and with more prodding from my sister, I have picked up my sketch pad, and I have started sketching again.

Now I am creating time gradually to do them. She pointed out that a happy mom is a relaxed mom who is more emotionally stable to cater to her family, and that got to me.  

Another question was outside your husband and kids. "Who are you?". "What are your dreams?". " What do you want for yourself?"Are you truly happy?"

Also for my own good I am improving my diet, I decided to cut out Soda completely, no more fizzy drinks to help relieve the stomach ulcer I have been battling with and I am reducing my coffee intake to help with that too.

I am also going on my first solo date since I had my kids, and I am so excited about that. I have planned how I would visit three restaurants on my radar and still walk around all within three hours. I have got my outfit planned out. I have made my hair and nails, just waiting for the right moment to go.

Normally, when I go out with the kids, I wear very comfortable outfits that would be easy to run around when chasing them about. I try to sit not too far away from the restroom when we eat out for quick and easy bathroom trips by the kids. 

This time around, I am squeezing myself into something small and nice without fear of a child pulling my clothes off. I am so excited and hoping to be consistent with pursuing my own little pots of joy.

Maybe one day soon, I will be able to go on a whole solo vacation.

Na wah, this motherhood wey sweet like this eh, the it changes ones life is even more shocking when experienced......Na Baba God hand all mothers and mothers to be dey......

1. YOU CAN’T PRAY FOR POWER AND WATCH P*RN AT NIGHT

What exactly are you expecting?
Heaven to bless you while hell is clapping for you?
You pray for purity, then scroll Instagram to find temptation.
You beg God for destiny, then chase someone’s daughter to a hotel.
You cry in worship, but moan in fornication by evening.
That’s not warfare — that’s contradiction.
You’re not growing spiritually because you’re feeding your lust more than your soul.

2. SXXUAL SIN IS A SPIRITUAL LEAK

It drains your authority, boldness, and closeness with God.
That’s why after s*xual sin:
You feel distant from God
You don’t want to open your Bible
You avoid real men of God
You justify what you once preached against
You struggle to worship like before
It’s not punishment. It’s separation.
Sin weakens your spiritual voltage.
You can’t sin boldly and still pray boldly — it doesn’t work.

3. YOUR FIRE IS OFF BECAUSE YOUR ZIP IS OPEN LMAOOOOOOO

The Holy Spirit does not dwell in a temple that keeps inviting lust every weekend.
You can’t cry “Lord, use me” when you keep using your body to please strangers online.
Every time you watch p*rn, you plant seeds of guilt.
Every time you m*sturb*te, you fuel addiction.
Every time you sleep around, you dilute your spiritual oil.
Your anointing is not lost — it’s just buried under s*xual compromise.

4. YOU CAN’T CHASE GOD AND GIRLS AT THE SAME TIME

One will leave.
It’s either You die to flesh and grow in Christ
OR You live in pleasure and die spiritually
Let’s be real:
Most brothers don’t lack calling — they lack consecration.
You want prayer and p*rn.
Fasting and flirting.
Spirit and s***x.
 That’s a recipe for spiritual paralysis.

5. GOD IS NOT THE PROBLEM YOUR LACK OF DISCIPLINE IS

You cry, “God why don’t I feel you like before?”

Finding the perfect person.

There are too many people out there this day and age worrying about finding the perfect person.

You endlessly search, you'll try meeting new people, you take risks, yet you’ve been hurt so many times that you don’t let anyone in:

You’re afraid of failures and letdowns. You're afraid of lies and deceit. Who is real and who’s not. You doubt. You question.

You pick apart everyone you come across, trying to mix and match pieces you liked about previous people you’ve filled and shared your life with, yet could never fully fill that void you so desperately tried to create in a perfect person.

You place too much hope, faith, and burden on everyone you come across because you’re so eager to find that flawless person, constantly searching for that one person who will bring your life to some sort of meaningful culmination that doesn’t exist.

What alot of people dont understand is that true love won’t be at first sight. It won’t even be at first impression. Overtime it's actually built.

From both of your flaws. From the deepest of trauma and the happiest of times. From the failures and lessons of both people.

The flaws that make you who you are, the moments you’ve experienced, good and bad, better and worse, from rock bottom to the very top. They all have their place in time. In healing. In moving forward. In rebuilding, both together and alone.

People keep trading in real value for things you think are easily replaceable. It’s an illusion. The promise of better is an illusion. It’s the biggest lie there is. Better is a relative to where you are in your life and your path of healing.

The harsh battles are where the deepest of bonds are created with one another.
Suffering as one, as a team, as a whole, as a unit, or as a single entity. This is where true connection is formed.

Your foundation will crumble time and time again if the brick and mortar are made up of your combined trials and errors aren’t there.

Physical contact and empty promises, promises forged from delusions of grandeur will only get you so far, before your lack of a foundation causes you to collapse in on yourself time and time again.

Don’t be afraid of the building. Don’t be afraid of the pain. Embrace the shortcomings. Embrace the cold. Embrace life. Once you have, you can sit back and marvel at the failures and losses, together.

Without them, how would we ever know just how thankful we should be for this mystery we call life.

True vulnerability in the form of a mirror image of yourself is where you will find it.
Fall in love with yourself, and you’ll find this person. Your truest reflection. Don’t look for someone you can be perfect with.
Look for someone you can build with. Someone you can be vulnerable with. Someone you can be your ugliest self with and still be accepted
