INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD
Parenting is not easy, and one thing it has taught me is that the power of having the right community and being part of one is essential. It truly takes a village to raise a child. No matter what you are going through, there is someone somewhere with the right tool to help navigate things easily.
My children can be called picky eaters, and my first son is worse. He was the one who made me realise that there is a condition called ARFID ( Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) . It's different from picky eating. It is characterised by persistent interest in food, sensory based aversion, and fear of adverse consequences for food.
My first would throw up badly if forced to try new food options. Would rather starve than eat. The other two show the same tendencies, but he has it worse. I use a lot of supplements to make sure they are not malnourished.
With my first, his safe foods are limited, and his protein intake is very low. He doesn’t eat chicken, meat, or fish. He takes chicken skin, though, very little milk and cheese. Not enough to meet up his daily dietary needs .
This has bothered me greatly. There was a time he could eat eggs, but one day, he just stopped that, too.
Now, where community helped me. So I have a best friend now. She is older, wiser, and has way older kids and understands intentional parenting. One day, she suggested I allow them to cook easy meals from start to finish on their own. With their own chef cap and apron and make it exciting for them.
I involve them at times in cooking to help, but this time, I am allowing them to have control and just helping in the background. I took her advice and started off with eggs. They were so excited, they fried the eggs and guess what they ate five eggs at once. Turns out he likes his eggs very salty and a certain texture, as long as it's prepared that way he can eat it.
Now fried eggs are back on his safe food list and his go-to comfort food now. He eats up to three per day. He is meeting his daily protein dietary requirements now. She doesn’t know how grateful I am for the advice because one major source of worry was just removed for me. I am super grateful to my bestie.

The woman begged her daughter to stop having kids after they had their 3rd child but she refused, saying that as an only child, that she needs siblings,she later had the fourth child and this time, a girl, the mother paid the doctors to put family planning on her which they did...
The problem now is that the husband has been lying to the woman that he doesn't have a job yet, that they've been feeding on his wife's business which made mama to take care of all bills, yet they still find a way to pay the bills....
The previous term, the man spent the children's school fees and mama had to pay it a second time just because she doesn't want her circle of friends to mock her that her only child is suffering.....
This term, as school was about resuming, Mama came by the school area and decided to stop by the school, she drove in and met the school authority, made some enquiries and found out the fees was far less than what they present to her every term, so she paid, got the receipt and left, Oga was sent a text to come and pick the children's materials for the new term, he was pained..
The woman went further to enquire about other things too and found out they've been feeding her with lies, so she decided to cut ties with them, but you know as mama heart de be na, she couldn't stay without her grandkids, so she came to see them, na there drama start, this man was hurling insults on his MIL, at some point, the daughter told him to stop insulting her Mom, he refused to stop, the woman then started telling him that it has been her Mom from day one, unlike his own family that doesn't care about them, na there the mama take find out say the man de build house, as the woman mentioned that he was being ungrateful to the woman whose money is being used to build a mansion, something his own mom cannot do for him....
Now the man is in my compound begging my caretaker (A lawyer) to help him go and beg the woman to open door for him, at coming back he met his things outside, so am hearing now that it's possible that it has been juju all the while cos it went on too fast, maybe the last eyes don clear and she's now ready to return to her Mom....
Truthfully, I’ve only ever seen that kind of discipline in the mosque school that used to be around my area in Ilorin. (Apologies my Moslem fellas).
Being late or whispering would earned you strokes. But in church? Ah Ah! I'm confused.
Sunday school is supposed to teach patience, love, and correction without fear. If we start importing this harshness, what are we really teaching the children? Pain? Shame? Or that God’s house isn’t safe?
Some traditions, once carried in, change the very air we breathe. And this one…? should never have crossed the door of the church. I plan to address this with the Sunday school coordinator next Sunday.

Gratitude is that key that opens the door to happiness. Infact,the happiest people in the world are those who live with gratitude.
When we begin to count our blessings, we realize how childish our worries are. We can’t really count all our blessings, nor are we able to name them all one by one.
Any time I think about God’s mercies and loving kindness to me, I come crashing down to my knees. not necessarily out of fear but out of so much wonder. How can a God be so good?
God’s mercy is what keeps us going. The mercy of God protects us from what we should have deserved due to our bad decisions and way of life but what does he do? he showers us with so much mercy and love.
There are times when I literally expect God to leave his throne and just shout at me because ordinarily what would I do to a child who makes the same mistakes and even more faultering over and over again?
But instead of shouting and strong rebuke, I see a gentle hand lifting me up and a calm and soothing voice saying to me, “My daughter, I died for you".
God is infinitely kind. He is infinitely good. His goodness and mercies know no bounds. They are new every morning and It is by his mercies that we are not consumed.
When I look back at my life to the present day, there are many reasons to be grateful for what the Lord has done for me and I believe I am not alone.
Right from the day I was born till this very moment of my life.
From the smallest blessings to the grandest moments, I acknowledge his hand in every aspect of my existence... It is beyond my comprehension. It is how he does this things that makes me tremble.
If you wake up and you have food on the table, you are blessed, because there a many people out there who do not get food daily.
You are blessed when you roam the streets freely because there are countless of people like you in jails.
If you have a job, you are blessed because there many people who don’t have job.
The list is endless...
Bless the Lord , O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord , O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. My dog died before I had my baby, I wanted to get another one, but, then I thought of my unborn child, and how I wanted him to be safe, So no dogs for now, until baby tango is grown up enough to handle one. Happy weekend.

ReplyDeleteWhy is nobody talking about the drastic fall of foodstuffs in the market. I'm just so happy, tatashe, pepper, sombo, tomato, beans, rice prices crashed so much. You need to see how some people who have already stored grains at home waiting for the price to rise so they can start selling it in high prices are complaining bitterly because the prices keeps falling even lower than what they bought. I know it's business,so I can't blame them but I believe they're part of the problems we have in the country. These people are seriously praying for prices to go up so they can make plenty gains from it, I hope this teaches them a lesson not to hoard things in order to hike prices.

Nobody who cares about someone would ask them to lie to their parent and financially exploit them so they can benefit. Juju alone should not be blamed, the daughter put dyck above her relationship with her mother and devalued her mother’s labour. She was not jujued, just dickmatised.

Cute dog. I love this particular breed of dogs, they are not violent and they are so cute. Many bachelors and spinsters in my neighborhood have it, especially the Yahoo boys and runs girls.
ReplyDeletePlantain price has really dropped. I bought six big fingers for 1000 yesterday. It was enough for us to fry and eat with rice. This is wonderful. Before I will buy like 3k worth.
Garri too is now #50 per cup. Something that was sold for 120 per cup some months ago.

@motherhood lady. My kids can be picky eaters as well. I blend their protein into their meals. For instance I boil then blend chicken in their stew. And also blend fish in their soup. Then boil egg and mash and put in their rice. You should try it so they don't lack nutrients. All the best to you
