"For my birthday this year, I'm breaking free from at last,
From the prison of public perception, I'm leaving it in the past
So I'll hold on to the good, let it shine through the bad,
Cause love is what I carry, and that's more than what I lack

Didn't have the best birthday, September felt the same
But as the night is ending, I'm counting love by name
I think about the real ones, the ones who never leave
Reminding me I'm blessed, more than I sometimes see".
