Contrary to news making the rounds, he was not flown abroad for treatment and is being attended to by Nigerian doctors in his Abuja home ....
He also did not suffer stroke as is being speculated.....

    1. I don't understand this comment of who do you like this.
I am sure you know he is very enlightened and can afford to pay his medical bills ANYWHERE in the world if it is necessary.
You just read a press statement and assume you know more than his doctors

    2. Home is the ideal place for treatment when needs allow. When needs prevent this, It's place where one starts to receive treatment and where one is facilitated to recover. It is only when one is unable to receive required inputs that the location of treatment is changed to a primary, secondary or tertiary care center, depending on the need. It's odd and wasteful to have to attend a teaching hospital for a shot or to treat your ringworm. Many diabetic, psychiatric, wound care, epilepsy, joint management and pediatric outpatient clinics are even set up to look like child and adult day care centers where people come in for injections, follow up etc. for renal care, they show you how to use the home set-up to do your own dialysis and do a brief virtual review if needed. Scripts are sent virtually and things like bloods and port care is the purview of visiting nurses. The home setting is the best place to see the person instead of the uncomfortable patient excised from his surroundings and left to recollect concerns in a rigid, antiseptic hospital he desperately want to escape from to regularize his BP.

Many hospitals and treatment centers in Nigeria are adopting such innovative approaches, or rather, going back to the basics of healthcare like their colleagues in other parts of the world. The federal government launched a similar initiative with development partners months ago to localize inputs with health ambassadors but if you're given to complaints, it's very challenging to see anything positive at cost to yourself. The things we see as signs of a poorer health system are being adapted as patient centered service improvement in other areas eg giving injections at pharmacies, home visits, flexible reviews, virtual options etc.
