I remember how I used to stuck these magazines in my school bag to go and read in school .
ReplyDeleteStick
DeleteStuck anon
DeleteI always wondered if those stories were true
DeleteSo one day,I wrote a story as if it was real, went to the post office and posted it to Hints magazine. Colour me shocked when my story actually featured in the magazine. I guess there is no way for them to know which story Is true or fake. This was in 1998-99 as I just finished WAEC and was attending Jamb Lessons. Good old days!

ReplyDeleteOooo Stella...the nostalgia. Hmmmm... Those were the days. I preferred hints over hearts. They had chronicles too. Don't know if they were made up but they made for quite an enjoyable read.
ReplyDeleteDante (yes, our Dante here ) writes like and seems to have the temperament of the author behind the Tommy Lee Jones column in hints or hearts. I can't really remember which. I also loved Tony Kan's column and former NNPC Gmd's column as well. Those magazines were collectors items. They should be.
I liked the soft erotica angle they were coming from. That was a nice touch.
Never missed any edition. I love reading.
ReplyDeleteAmong those queens, it's Eucharia that is mostly in our faces now.

The good old days. I started buying this magazine when it was sold for #250, then it increased to #300, then they made it bigger, or should I say longer, and started to sell it for #500. I never missed an edition. I had even communicated with Editor (Wale) one time I was looking for a pen pal.
ReplyDeleteThe good old days...
ReplyDeleteHints magazine.
ReplyDeleteHood old memories.
ReplyDeleteSee how handsome saint obi looked. RIP Sir๐ญ
ReplyDeleteDays when love was without billing and true love exist.
ReplyDeleteGood old days. My dad still has some copies. That man can keep things ehnnn๐
ReplyDeleteMy secondary school days. I used to borrow hints and hearts magazines from my aunty that never misses to buy them weekly to read. I'll put it in my bag and read it during break time at school. I loved the anonymous stories from people and the columns too.
ReplyDeleteI used to believe the stories in Hints and Hearts magazines were fake until I read on this blog where a Bv said she sent a story to them and they published it.
ReplyDeleteI miss those good old days.
Those headlines are hilarious
ReplyDeleteGood ol' days
