NMDPRA CEO Farouk Ahmed Resigns Amidst Billionaire Dangote Corruption Allegations

Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has resigned following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The announcement comes after serious allegations of economic sabotage and corruption leveled against Farouk Ahmed. The resignation follows a high-profile conflict with Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, who recently accused Ahmed of spending approximately $5 million on the secondary school education of his four children in Switzerland. Dangote, during a press briefing at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lekki, Lagos, called for a formal investigation into these claims, suggesting the expenditure was inconsistent with a public servant's income.

Ahmed has denied these allegations, stating that the funds were derived from scholarships and personal savings, and he has expressed willingness to defend himself before an official investigative body.

President Tinubu summoned Farouk Ahmed to address these allegations, which have sparked a nationwide debate over regulatory oversight in Nigeria’s petroleum sector. The timing of Ahmed’s resignation coincides with the departure of Gbenga Komolafe, CEO of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

In response, Tinubu has nominated Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan and Saidu Mohammed as replacements for Ahmed and Komolafe, respectively, signaling potential changes in the leadership of Nigeria’s petroleum regulatory framework.

  4. Why expose your children to possible public humiliation, just send them to school that you can easily afford. Some of you cause yourselves unnecessary stress for the temporary things of this world. Now see your public disgrace. Mtsscchhwww

If your children are not going to do something useful to the world then the private school education is a complete waste of money and time.

    2. Most northern elite do not live or make a life abroad. They travel for holidays and come back to Nigeria . How many times have you heard or seen them working or achieving things "in the abroad" like their southern counterparts. The boys will come back and be set up for careers in the civil service and before you know it they are at the top. Their girls will study up to Masters level and then enter a mans house or become a stay at home business woman.

  9. Evil people reasons they always want to cling to power as if Nigeria belongs to them alone. Where else can someone steal so much without accountability? In his Sokoto home state there is a lot of almajiri they will never help them,Ndume will not come out to talk now. If it is not Dangote that exposed him now you would have heard that he was remove on tribal ground. Nigeria have a long way to go man,our indiscipline is too much.
