Her death was confirmed by family members in a statement posted on her Instagram page on Saturday January 10, 2026.
The press release says that Sunshine passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, after an unsuccessful surgical procedure.
“We the family of Esther Thomas (A.K.A Sunshine), with pain in our hearts, regret to announce the sudden demise of our beloved sister and daughter, who passed away on January 9, 2026, after an unsuccessful surgery,”
Another content creator Chidera Madu shared a detailed account of Sunshine’s medical ordeal in a Facebook post. He said she first complained of stomach pain on December 28, 2025, which worsened over time and was later diagnosed as fibroid.
According to Madu, Sunshine was initially admitted to a General Hospital, where she was reportedly placed on pain relief medication due to an ongoing doctors’ strike , a development he said the family was unaware of at the time.
He explained that on January 2, after noticing the absence of doctors on duty, he decided to move her to another hospital for further treatment, using scan results already obtained from the first facility.
Madu added that doctors at the second hospital later advised surgery as her condition deteriorated. Although the surgery was described as successful, Sunshine reportedly developed complications afterwards and d!ed.
Hmmm i went on her page and saw what a Jolly good fellow she was and she had a very very flat stomach..... Rest on in peace beautiful!!!

Urgent attention has to be focused on medical facilities in Nigeria at the NATIONAL AND STATE LEVEL. transparent investigations of needless endings need to occur with clear paths of improvement mapped out.
ReplyDeleteBefore paying political office holders, even teachers, health care workers pay has to be prioritized. Basics in the hospital: ppe, vitals monitors, ecg machines with printing paper available, solar power, 24 hour lab testing oxygen electronic health records and so on.
I shudder to recall the horror of taking a loved one to hospital under private -public ownership where the only ecg machine suddenly disappeared- not to be repaired but because someone felt their private ramshackle practice deserved it better. This did not stop the money- focused business center from subjecting the patient to a chest X-ray with no diagnostic value. It took another 30 minutes to be defrauded for the X-ray and the HCA responsible for transporting the patient had the cheerfulness of a demon. . Troponin levels you ask? About 18 HOURS later.

Indirect invectives against the dead are unprofessional but more importantly, unkind and wicked. She did not pass from an oversized belly but fibroid the usual and unusual symptoms can be easily read up on in shorter time than what is needed to type snide remarks.
