Nigeria's 1st Lady SOT Says Nigerian Leaders Are Respected Abroad But Bullied At Home

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, recently shared her thoughts on how leaders are treated differently at home compared to abroad. She made the comments on her Facebook page shortly after attending a major event in the United States.

At the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC, US President Donald Trump publicly recognized her. He described her as a "very respected woman" and highlighted her role as an ordained pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, one of Nigeria's largest churches. The event brings together US Congress members, religious leaders, and international guests to discuss faith, leadership, and religious freedom.

In her post, Mrs. Tinubu pointed out that many Nigerian leaders receive honor and respect when they travel overseas. However, back home, they often face heavy criticism, abuse, and what she called a "culture of bullying." She mentioned that people sometimes speak badly about leaders, demean them, curse them, and share their mistakes online to mock them publicly. She linked this trend to hate-driven stories and political manipulation, especially on social media.

She said;

“Most of our leaders are highly respected and honored abroad, yet many Nigerians fail to value what they have because of hatred and the narratives planted in their minds by political paymasters, which have also hardened their hearts.

They bully these leaders, speak ill of them, demean them, curse them, and even seize upon their mistakes to drag them across social media, ridiculing and mocking them publicly - Nigeria is built on love, unity, and collective effort toward shared success.

Let us come together to support our respected leaders and work hand in hand with them to make our country great.

    1. I do! Especially how she featured Tramp’s comment, the very same person who called her country a sewer pit. No two edged sword can give me a compliment and I accept it.

  3. Oh there she goes again! Who respects and honours Nigerian political leaders abroad?
    In the same breath, Trump supposedly honoured you he said he told Pete (secretary of war) to hit Nigeria hard! What an irony!🫤

    This is coming from a supposed 'Pastor' that bullied a crippled beggar in public just because he's from another tribe!

    WHAT FRUIT shows that you are a Christian?

    HOW DID YOU MAKE THE MILLIONS OF MONEY YOU lARE DONATING?

    WhHEN YOU STAND BEFORE GOD'S JUDGMENT you will tell him WHO CALLED YOU AS A PASTOR?
    The same goes for the person who ordained you as a Pastor because the bible warned not yo lay hands on anyone suddenly or partake in another man's sin!

    CLOUDS WITHOUT RAIN!

    Power is fleeting and soon you will be RELEGATED to FORMER!

    1. Very! At her level she shouldn’t be moved by the words spoken by certain ppl. She is too excited to receive those kinds of compliments.

      Every person in a country will not like, respect or care for politicians. But many ppl respect her husband, she, and the prominent son. Every person cannot be for you, so accept the millions of Nigerians who love and support you and focus on that. The ones who don’t care for you and your husband have a right to their feelings and opinions, it’s a democracy after all.
