Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has stated that there is no going back on the implementation of the cashless policy at all revenue points at the airports. The Minister, while noting that the hybrid system currently in place was temporary, added that the federal government will soon transition to a fully automated payment system.



The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has taken a tough stance against big borrowers who fail to pay back their debts. In a new move to keep the nation’s financial system safe, the apex bank has ordered all banks to stop giving new loans or special banking services to large-scale debtors who have bad or unrepaid loans on their records.

 Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State says he has not expressed interest in contesting another governorship election, following a Federal High Court ruling that barred him from seeking a fresh term in 2028. A Federal High Court in Akure ruled on Thursday that Aiyedatiwa is not eligible to contest the 2028 governorship election.

 An Ibadan, Oyo State-based cleric, Kayode Amusan, aka Agbala Gabriel, has been accused of sexual misconduct and mishandling of donations raised for sick individuals. A series of accusations now spreading across Facebook, TikTok and Instagram placed him at the centre of a fierce online debate involving claims about medical fundraising for a sick woman and allegations that he fathered twins with a former backup singer in his church.

A mortuary attendant at NKST Hospital located at Jato Aka, headquarters of Kwande Local Government of Benue State, MT Tiga, was on Thursday abducted by thugs who wanted to prevent a planned mass burial for the victims of bandit attack on Tyungu Jam and Mbaav communities. It was gathered that the abduction prevented families of the victims from access to the corpses which had been deposited at the mortuary as there was no official to attend to them.

 A Rivers State High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt, has sentenced three persons to death by hanging for the murder of a pharmacist, Muenalo Sunday, in Khana Local Government Area of the state. The convicts, Confidence Kirinee (General Ilia), Precious Mona, and Soniabari Sagha, were found guilty of conspiracy, cultism, kidnapping, and murder.

 President Bola Tinubu has urged media executives to extend the same level of scrutiny they apply to his administration to states and local governments, which, he argued, now enjoy greater financial autonomy under his reformed federalism. The President made the appeal on Friday night while hosting media proprietors and executives at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

 The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has disbursed a total of N1.894 trillion from the February 2026 Federation Account revenue to the federal government, state governments and local government councils. This was disclosed in a communiqué issued on Friday and signed by the spokesperson of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa.
