Oyedele, who is a well known tax expert and former chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, brings strong experience to the role. He led major changes to Nigeria's tax system during his time on the committee.
The senate see his appointment by the president as a move to bring more skill to handling the country's money matters, especially with ongoing challenges like revenue collection and economic stability.
President Bola Tinubu nominated Oyedele earlier this month to replace Doris Uzoka-Anite, who moved to another position as Minister of State for Budget and National Planning.
The screening focused on Oyedele's plans for realistic budgeting, better revenue generation, and support for sectors like solid minerals.
