Mrs. Uwadia was arrested and taken to Aideyan Police Station in Benin City, where she now faces investigation and possible prosecution for operating an illegal orphanage and running an adoption fraud scheme.

Adoption in Nigeria is too cumbersome. Government will tell you to adopt legally and then create insurmountable bureaucratic and financial hurdles. I know they are trying to be careful and erroneously believe that if you are indeed serious you will follow their "processes" but unfortunately it has led to the rise and proliferation of all these "childrens homes" and "maternity centres"
