INEC Reacts To ADC's Call For Its Chairman Amupitan's Resignation

INEC has dismissed the ADC’s call for its Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, to resign.

The ADC, led by David Mark, accused Amupitan of partisanship after INEC removed the names of some party leaders from its portal, a move the Commission said was simply compliance with a Court of Appeal judgment. 

In a statement by the Chairman’s Chief Press Secretary, Adedayo Oketola, INEC noted that while stakeholders are free to express their views, the Chairman’s appointment and removal are governed strictly by Section 157 of the 1999 Constitution, meaning political pressure cannot determine his exit.
