Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Rejects Court Order To Pay ₦1 Billion To EX Gov Bello

On April 23, 2026, a High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State ordered Senator Natasha Akpoti‑Uduaghan to pay ₦1 billion in damages to former Governor Yahaya Bello after ruling in his favour in a defamation suit.

The case began in 2023 when Bello sued the senator over statements she made in a 2022 television interview and at a public rally. The court held that the remarks were defamatory and awarded general damages of ₦1 billion.
It also issued a perpetual injunction restraining her from repeating the claims.
In a video response, Senator Akpoti‑Uduaghan rejected the ruling and stated that she would challenge the decision at the Court of Appeal.

Pay one billion for what exactly? has he returned all the monies he reportedly allegedly mismanaged? Because she is a woman, the judgement came quickly. but his EFCC case has been swept under the carpet...

  4. Even someone sentenced for stealing can sue anyone accusing him falsely of plotting to take their life.

His own trial is ongoing and based on the amount of time he had to siphon from the coffers as alleged by EFCC, his case will take time.

Just like the previous case where he went to court and lost all her prayers, she will likely lose all the way to the supreme court because she has no iota of evidence to tender.

Thank God there are and have been other women in the green and red chambers. For people who want to face their work, this lady sets a bad example.

    2. Sponge, there are comments above that are produced from the minimal cerebral level where you operate. They will definitely make you happy.

To support Natasha's struggle, make the same claim against the guy who's performance in office makes you guys operate at the same wavelength.
