The facility was commissioned by UBA Group CEO, Oliver Alawuba, on behalf of Group Chairman Tony Elumelu, an alumnus of UNILAG. Elumelu described the project as “symbolic and strategic,” noting that universities are the birthplace of ideas and future leaders.
The four-floor complex will serve as a space for collaboration between academia and industry, with UBA offering banking and enterprise support directly on campus.
UBA also renewed its sponsorship of the Professorial Chair in Finance, first established in 1972, with an additional ₦61.67 million endowment to boost research and development.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, praised UBA’s commitment to innovation and described Elumelu as “a true son of the university.”
UBA operates in 20 African countries and globally, serving over 45 million customers.
