The event, themed “From Eligibility to Competitiveness: Building Nigerian Films for Global Recognition,” focused on helping Nigerian filmmakers move beyond meeting submission requirements to creating films that can compete internationally.
NOSC Chairperson Stephanie Linus said the conversation about international recognition must begin early in a film’s development.
“For many years, the question has been ‘How do we submit a film?’ Now we must ask, ‘How do we create films that deserve to compete among the world’s best?’” she said.
The forum featured case studies of globally recognised films, discussions on storytelling, technical quality, cultural authenticity, and festival strategy.
Speakers emphasised stronger script development, world‑class post‑production, professional subtitles, strategic partnerships, sustainable financing and effective publicity.
Omotola Ekeinde joined other industry leaders as the NOSC called for greater collaboration, technical excellence and intentionality to position Nigerian cinema for global success.
Stephanie Linus concluded:
“Nigeria does not lack talent or stories. What we need now is greater intentionality, stronger development and collaboration. The goal is not just to submit a film but to build films that can stand among the best in the world.”
