The court also ordered him to pay a fine of ₦20 million.

Justice delivered the judgment on Friday July 17, 2026 after finding him guilty under the Anambra Homeland Security Law which law targets spiritual practices linked to crime, especially claims of using rituals to make people rich quickly.
Onyeze Jesus was arrested in February 2025 by the Agunechemba security outfit. He faced charges including running money rituals (called Okeite), making false claims about supernatural powers, and other related offences. He was in custody during the long trial.
After the judgment was read, Onyeze Jesus appeared downcast in court. Reports say he pleaded for leniency, expressing regret for his actions and asking the court to consider the time he had already spent in detention. He showed some remorse, though the judge stuck with the full sentence and fine based on the evidence.
His sentence will run concurrently from February 2025
