The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday told the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee probing the alleged unestablished Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council that it rejected the council’s requests for collaboration after discovering discrepancies in documents submitted by its self-acclaimed Director-General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi. The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, said the ministry had no official relationship with the PFIPC.

The Monetary Policy Committee, MPC, of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has again retained benchmark interest rates at 26.5%. Briefing journalists at the end of the 306th MPC Meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, CBN governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, stated that the decision to hold was a result of thorough assessment of the balance of risk and economic indicators.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has uncovered a fake university in the Imeke area of Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, where operators allegedly admitted students into unaccredited programmes and compelled them to join a Ponzi scheme. The NSCDC said six suspects were arrested during the operation, while 107 students were rescued from the illegal institution.

The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has said nationwide anti-crime operations conducted between June 9 and June 21, 2026, resulted in the arrest of 1,198 suspects across the federation. Speaking at a monthly conference with strategic senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja, the IG disclosed that the arrests spanned various offences, alongside significant recoveries of illegal arms and stolen vehicles and the rescue of abducted victims.

Fuel marketers have resumed loading petrol and diesel from private depots after an almost one-week disruption triggered by recent price adjustments in the downstream petroleum sector.
