“Are you aware they said they should not preach in buses? I will not be alive and see Christ being humiliated. Nobody is talking. Since you allow Muslims to put loudspeakers, then Christians must preach. Nigeria will never be a Muslim nation. Otherwise, some of us will leave.”
Ibiyeomie urged political leaders to focus on the country’s pressing economic challenges instead of passing laws that do not reflect the current realities Nigerians are facing. He also stated that he has no interest in politics but will always speak when matters affect the faith.

The law has nothing to do with religion, don't get it twisted. The aim is for safety.

There is a difference between preaching and proselytizing. The government is not stopping anyone from preaching. Rather, the government is saying it is an infringement on the rights of people to subject them to listen messages where they do not have the immediate option of removing themselves from that environment. I stand with the government on this.
ReplyDeleteKeep whatever bullshit you have to preach about to your self. That people find themselves in a bus doesn't mean they should be subject to and forced to listen to what they'd rather not. The sanctity of the public space must be protected. Christians do get all touchy. They forget that they were the biggest cheerleaders when Jonathan's government went after gays in Nigeria. I felt then and I still believe that government has no business legislating morality.
But if they cheered for government then, they should also cheer for government now.

ReplyDeleteWhy not go preach at an airport? Why not go preach at hotels and convention centres? Why not go preach at universities and hospitals? Go preach at the big banks and government buildings. Markets and bus parks are still there available for preaching, must you be on the bus to disturb travelling folks who just want to reach their destination in peace.
ReplyDeleteYou are literally looking for captive audiences, you don't want to preach where ppl can ignore you as they walk by that's why you insist on being on buses, because the ppl cannot escape. As a firm believer in Christ, I do not and will never support any preaching on buses or any kind of transportation. I paid for a quiet ride and that is what I expect. You could usefully lay hands and pray over the bus for safe travels, why not do that instead, pray for the vehicles, drivers and passengers outside.
