President Tinubu Declares Nigeria Has Entered Its “Golden Era” And Praises Govs For Backing Economic Reforms

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says Nigeria has entered its golden era following the stabilisation of the economy through consistent implementation of economic reforms. He stated that the country is now positioned to enjoy the full benefits of democracy.

Tinubu made this known while receiving a delegation of stakeholders from the Northeast zone led by Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum. He attributed the success of the reforms to the strong support of state governments and other sub‑national leaders.
The delegation included Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta, and traditional rulers such as the Shehu of Borno, HRH Umar Garbai Al‑Kanemi; the Aku Uka of Wukari, HRM Dr. Manu Ishaku Matakhitswen; the Emir of Fika, HRH Alhaji Dr. Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idrissa; and the Emir of Gombe, HRH Abubakar Shehu‑Abubakar, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, former ministers, senators, House of Representatives members, and former service chiefs from the Northeast.

Tinubu urged the governors to intensify efforts in consolidating the gains of the reforms and ensure Nigerians fully understand the growth trajectory and participate in the benefits. He noted that the economy has stabilised and encouraged leaders to do more in strengthening social welfare and national development.

He also emphasised the need for sustained unity in the Northeast to combat terrorism and banditry, acknowledging the collaboration among leaders in addressing security challenges. Tinubu added that his administration is clearing outstanding pension arrears left by previous governments and reaffirmed his commitment to democratic stability and national prosperity.

The President expressed gratitude to the region’s leaders, especially traditional rulers, describing them as leaders of conscience. He made special mention of the Shehu of Borno, whom he consulted before his presidential bid, and Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, whom he described as a mentor.

Prof. Zulum said the Northeast stakeholders visited the State House to thank the President for re‑nominating Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election and reaffirmed the region’s commitment to the success of the Tinubu‑Shettima ticket.
