Around the turn of the nineteenth century, a physician named Ivan Pavlov won a Nobel Prize for his experiments with dogs. All the dogs had one thing in common - they salivated around food. But Pavlov wanted to find out if salivation could be caused by another stimulus, so he conditioned the dogs by ringing a bell before feeding them. Eventually the dinner bell caused salivation, even if the food wasn't served. Pavlov referred to this learned relationship as a conditioned reflex.
We've all been consciously or subconsciously conditioned our entire lives. Much of our behaviour was dictated by those conditioned reflexes. Some conditioned reflexes are as normal and natural as a blush. Others are as destructive as drinking to drown our sorrows. But conscious or subconscious, harmless or harmful, one thing is certain: we are far more conditioned than we realise.
One dimension of our spiritual growth is being reconditioned by the grace of God. Jesus said, 'You have heard that it was said...But I say to you' (Matthew 5:21-22 NKJV). Jesus uses this couplet repeatedly. What was he doing? He was uninstalling Old Testament applications and reinstalling New Testament truths. It was no longer 'An eye for an eye.' Jesus upgraded it to 'Turn to them the other cheek,' which required reconditioned reflexes (see Matthew 5:38-39 NIV). Sometimes it's much easier to act like a Christian than to react like one. How does this change in our reactions take place? By the Holy Spirit. 'We are being changed to be like him [Jesus]. This change...comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit' (2 Corinthians 3:18 NCV).

An example of him is that state governor in the news today for owing his state civil servants 7 months salaries despite the billions given to governors every month
Why do we have alot of younger guys driving tipper instead of the normal matured men who normally driver it, could it be that the fees are lesser with younger ones than older men? They are causing alot of accidents lately, our roads are not even good.
ReplyDeleteYesterday one terrible accident happened along gwagwalada lookalike express way, just between that government secondary. Immediately you pass the bridge a little between hummer bus and a tipper. 8 persons all of them are men, fathers, husbands, brothers, sons all gone instantly but nothing happened to the driver driving the tipper. The inpact on the tipper is not even much but you need to see the inpact on the bus, the front is completely gone.
It was very difficult to bring out the driver of the bus, that accident was terrible. One couldn't eat after witnessing such an incident. I pray the tipper owners make a better choice with their drivers and stop giving it to younger guys like the former hangover company. May God rest their souls and co sole their family members 🙏

DeleteThe young guys will smoke and sniff all sorts before mounting these articulated vehicles, thereby constituting a great threat to other road users.
I think their employers do this because the young guys accept smaller salaries since they do not have much responsibilities.
I pray a law is passed to fix the ages of the drivers of these vehicles at above 30
