Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua’s wife, Sharon Faqua, has spoken openly about the early days of their relationship.
Sharon said those rules made her suspicious at first. “I’m like, hey, I know say this guy dey hide something,” she recalled. She thought he might be keeping another woman out of the way.
She linked those doubts to emotional baggage from her past, including a previous marriage that ended in divorce. His honesty felt strange to her. “His honesty was a problem for me,” she said. “And the way he loved me was also too much for me.”
One story she told stood out. She flew into Lagos late one night. Her hotel was fully booked, so she asked to stay at his place. Shawn first said no. He wanted time to pray and “ask the spirit.” After praying, he agreed. When she stayed, he slept in the sitting room while she used the bedroom.
Sharon later realized her suspicions came from her own past experiences, not from anything Shawn did. She also noted how thoughtful he was. Even though she never told him she liked handwritten notes, he always included them with his gifts.
The couple got married in 2025. Their wedding included a unique ceremony on the Lagos Blue Line train.
In a recent episode of the At His Right Hand podcast hosted by Olive Emodi, Sharon shared how Shawn set clear boundaries right from the start. He told her they would not have sex before marriage. He also said she could not visit his house because they would be alone there.

He did the right thing. May God bless their union. A lot of guys are like that but you won't know because they don't toot their horns. Not everyone is doing it.
