No fewer than seven miners have been reported dead after a mining pit collapsed on them at Kassa community in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Wednesday evening. It was gathered from multiple sources in the community on Thursday that the incident occurred at about 7pm when the pit suddenly collapsed on the miners while they were carrying out mining activities at the site.

The Nigerian Navy, in collaboration with Operation Delta Safe Sector 4 and the Marine Police, has rescued 22 passengers who were attacked by suspected sea robbers along the Calabar-Oron-Ibaka waterway in Cross River State.
