  1. A sad story is trending about a young Nigerian boy who used to be one of the brightest students in Anambra State. His name is Richard Abraham. In 2021, he represented Aguata Zone at the state level during the Governor’s Debate Competition. During the debate In 2021, Richard Abraham stood out as one of the top student speakers for Aguata Zone at the Anambra State Governor’s Debate. Then Governor Willie Obiano was so impressed that he called the young man “Honourable.”

A few years later, life took a hard turn. Richard’s mother fell ill and died after a short sickness. He was 18 at the time in 2024 and became an orphan. With no support left for school fees, he stopped going to school. Today he works as a bricklayer to survive. His former teacher, Joy Onuchukwu, recently ran into him and asked what happened. Richard told her the full story. The teacher shared it, and the video of him speaking about his situation quickly went viral.

In the video, Richard explains simply that “life happened.” He talks about the loss of his mother, the sudden end of his education, and how he now carries tools and mixes cement for a living instead of sitting in a classroom.

Help has started to come. Joy Onuchukwu later announced that the Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike, contacted her. The mayor said he will cover all of Richard’s remaining O’Level education costs and also help with basic accommodation. Other people and groups have also stepped forward with offers of support since the story went public.

  2. Benue State Police have arrested a woman who allegedly stole a newborn baby from a healthcare centre in Gboko LGA of Benue State.

Prior, the baby didn't cry after birth, but after some medical intervention, the baby later responded. The fake nurse then took the newborn and headed towards the labour room. Fortunately, the baby's grandmother followed her when the fake nurse noticed she had been followed. She ordered the grandmother to stay outside while she examined the baby. She disappeared with the baby shortly afterwards.

The case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Makurdi for further investigation

    1. This story is hot in Benue Facebook. Gboko is becoming synonymously with child theft and child trafficking. A few months back, a CWO executive in the same Gboko was fingered to be involved in child trafficking. I don't know how that story ended.
