
Speaking at a ceremony in Abuja, Disu said the gesture goes beyond official duty and is a way to honour the fallen heroes and support their families. He noted that every officer who died was first a loved family member before becoming a police officer.
The payment covers insurance claims from 2017 to 2025 under various police insurance schemes, including unpaid balances from earlier partial settlements.
Disu said no amount of money could replace the lives lost but assured that the police would continue to support the families. He urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely especially for their children’s education and welfare and called on insurance companies to treat police death claims as humanitarian support, not just business transactions.
