But now, there is just one problem.
The moment I saw her, I was like, “Ah! So this is where we have reached?”
I know it’s normal to meet healthcare workers outside the clinic, but I don’t know why I get anxious whenever I see anyone connected to the clinic outside the clinic. Maybe it’s because you expect certain things to remain within those walls.
What worries me more is that this particular woman is very talkative and has her own clique at the fitness centre. I just pray she remains professional and respects people’s privacy.
We don’t really get along at the clinic. We’ve had issues because of how she sometimes speaks to patients, and I didn’t keep quiet about it. So naturally, I’m wondering whether she might decide to discuss me with her friends. And because she works at the clinic, she knows certain private information.
The irony is that she is also living with HIV, so she knows exactly what confidentiality means. If she ever decided to expose me, she could simply say she knows me from the clinic without revealing her own status.
That thought makes me uncomfortable.
If I hadn’t already paid my registration fee, I might have quietly disappeared from that fitness centre — not because anyone has done anything to me, but because I know myself. I would start overthinking everything.
Someone looks at me too long? “Hmmm… this person knows something.”
Someone laughs with their friend? “They are definitely talking about me.”
Two people look in my direction? “Ah! She has told them!”
Meanwhile, they might just be discussing what to eat after the workout.
And that’s the frustrating part.
I don’t want someone’s presence to make me give up something that has been so beneficial to me. Since I joined the fitness group, I’ve become stronger, more energetic and happier. I’m doing things I couldn’t comfortably do before.
But at the same time, I don’t want to spend every workout session feeling watched or wondering who knows what about me.
Then again, if I leave and join another fitness group, who says I won’t meet someone else connected to the clinic there? Am I going to keep running away from everywhere?
At some point, I have to remind myself that I have a right to live my life outside the clinic too. Healthcare workers are expected to maintain confidentiality, and knowing someone’s medical information does not give anyone the right to share it.
So for now, I think I’ll stay. I’ll exercise, enjoy myself, mind my business and hope everyone else does the same.
After all, I didn’t join the fitness group to investigate who is looking at me.

My dia...air her.
ReplyDeleteShe won't. Even if she decides to be unfortunate to spill, you too talk your own.
After all... nobody craze pass
Forget about her and have fun. If she does and you hear about it report her to the center. Two can play the same game. Don't allow anyone to take whatever gives you peace. Take care.
