President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the President and his economic team were responsible leaders.
He was reacting to a post by at StatiSense listing Africa’s most indebted countries in 2026.
It posted: “Africa’s most indebted countries – 2026. Public debt as % of GDP.
“Sudan — 169.1%
“Senegal — 132.3%
“Mozambique — 106.1%
“Cabo Verde — 95.9%
“Republic of Congo — 91.3%
“Egypt — 87.0%
“Mauritius — 86.5%
“Gabon — 86.1%
“Tunisia — 84.9%
“South Africa — 78.9%
“Nigeria — 35.5%
“Several African economies carry public debt approaching or exceeding the size of their annual economic output.
“Sudan stands out at 169.1% of GDP, meaning its government debt is estimated at roughly 1.7 times the size of its economy. #Statisense (IMF).”
Reacting, Onanuga commended Tinubu and his economic team for the feat.
He posted on X: “Another stubborn fact for those whose stock in trade is to denigrate Nigeria and the Tinubu presidency and raise baseless alarms about our sovereign debt.
“Our country is not among Africa’s most indebted countries. Unlike the countries listed here, our debt burden is about 35 per cent of our GDP. Kudos to PBAT and the economic team for responsible leadership.”

Believe Bayo Onanuga at your own peril. This is the authentic data. A simple search will show you this and not this doctored and fraudulent data from the handlers at the presidency.

If this is true then these people are more devilish than one thinks ooo. Old demons. The Bayo man looks like a stupid demon
DeleteZombidient TJ, pls stop making a fool of yourself. The Statisense fig of 35% relates the country's public debt to GDP. The value you gave is the absolute fig in dollar terms. I dont know why you small minds never see anything good in the current govt. Pls let us be objective in our criticisms. If Nig wrre No 1 on that list, you would have been happier. You said you did Accounting as a 1st degree - no wonder you are not utilising it cos you lack basic understanding of financial terms and statistics. If it is man and woman gist, you for make sense but this is above you. Stop making comments ignorantly
DeleteHaba TJ, this is not Nnamdi Kanu/UGM/IPOB issue. Pls keep off cos it is way beyond your comprehension and that your Gringori Obi. Debt sustainability for countries is measured against their GDP hence the above data released by Statisense. You mob followers of deceitful and desperate Gringori Obi never want to see any positive news about Nigeria. But una go cry blaaaad. Nigeria shall be great again, beginning from this regime and continuing in the next regime under a smarter and younger northerner than Tinubu (not that retired thief-custom officer).

DeleteThe point will be lost on you. So I won't bother but laugh at you. Keep manufacturing your own happiness.
