    1. You have a point. So many balling billionaires, Nigeria with the most on the continent and none of them has thought to fund medical research. Everyone so materially focused that consideration to finding cures for diseases that predominantly affect us is not at the fore front of anyone's mind. There should be a spirit of supporting medical research and scientific innovation on the continent. We cannot always wait for outsiders to resolve our matters. Nigeria has some of the smartest people on the planet, why can't this innate intelligence be cultivated and put to use to protect and support the continent.

A potential cure for sickle cell disease was just approved by the FDA, to think maybe by next year these beautiful young women could have gotten it. However, a cure could have been discovered decades ago if medical research was prioritized in Africa. As a people we must be more innovative in our thinking, stop looking and waiting for others and take bold steps that can improve our collective well being.

  15. A professor, a doctor, and she still went ahead to make a decision that would affect her children. A doctor who should know better, 2 SS kids. Just look at what her selfishness cost those intelligent ladies. Haa!!!

    2. Get the fuck out off here. Typical Nigerian clown who would rather apply sentiments to everything. What circumstance would lead a medical doctor to make a decision that would affect her kids forever? If those ladies were in their 30s, was sickle cell information not available to the doctor 30 years ago?!

I just feel so sad for the women who lost their lives. They had so much to live for. So much!
