She shared on AfroTv that African motherhood is built on a village system where family steps in immediately after childbirth.
In Nigeria, a new mother’s mum suspends everything and stays for months to help her transition. In the United States, many women struggle to get even basic support from their own parents, and grandmothers often prioritise their own schedules.
She explained that mothers in America leave the hospital and go straight home to heal, adjust and care for a newborn without help. She said that when she sees a woman juggling two or three children in America, she sees a soldier.
In Nigeria, mothers have both domestic help and family support, a whole village that carries them through the early months.

She added that the pressure for women to snap back immediately after childbirth is unnecessary and unrealistic, especially in a system where mothers are left to do everything alone.

Hmmm 🙄🙄🙄
ReplyDeleteAs Africans, we must uphold our value system, it is the envy of the world.

DeletePlease expatiate on the value you are talking about. Is it that women be left to labour after child birth without help abroad or that mothers should support their daughters if they just give birth in Africa?
DeleteNa wah ooo
ReplyDeleteThe lady looks intelligent only when her mouth is shut.
ReplyDeleteSophia is very intelligent and eloquent, she speaks confidently anywhere she finds herself, what she said is nothing but the truth, don't insult her just because you don't like her.
DeleteDon’t mind CHIOMA’s fans that don’t see anything good in Sophia . It’s either u haven’t had a baby , so no experience or u are just a hater. & this is part of d content of her story, where she emphasized on her ignorant experience on Post Partum, so what is wrong with what she said? Thousands of women abroad & back home are giving her kudos for this , while some of u are hating. It doesn’t cost u anything to ignore f post than showing how ur heart resonates.
DeleteAnd she speaks from what pedestal? And @ Stella you too post her because?
ReplyDeleteDont let bitterness consume you God forbid! So she shouldnt speak at all because you are who?
DeleteProud of u Sophia. My aunty attended d summit & commended ur courteousness & eloquence. Remain focused Babes, GOD is just starting with u.🙏
