Tiktok Denies Restricting Service In Northern Nigeria

TikTok has denied responsibility for the access problems affecting users in Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi and Sokoto, saying it did not restrict the app and is working with relevant parties to find the cause.

The issue, which began in September, left users unable to load videos, upload content or refresh feeds even though other apps worked normally. Many could only access TikTok through a VPN.
Digital‑rights groups and telecom operators say the cause remains unclear, pointing to possible network issues, traffic controls or technical errors, not deliberate censorship.
Nigerian authorities have not released an official statement.
TikTok maintains it did not cause or initiate any restriction.
