Oba Joseph Oloyede, the dethroned Apetumodu of Ipetumodu in Osun State, who was convicted in the USA for offences bordering on fraud, has dragged Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, before the court.
He asked the court to stop the governor and his officials from filling the stool of Apetumodu pending the determination of the substantive suit and also alleged that Governor Adeleke did not formally inform him of any infraction he committed before embarking on the process to depose him and replace him.
Oloyede further stated that he only learnt of his deposition in the news, where it was alleged that he had, by an order purportedly signed by Governor Adeleke been deposed from office as the Apetumodu without any lawful basis.
The hearing in the matter was, however, stalled on Monday following the non-service of hearing notices on the parties. In his ruling, Justice Dapo Adeniji adjourned the case to January 21, 2027, and ordered that fresh hearing notices be issued and served on the defendants.
Governor Adeleke had approved the deposition of Oba Oloyede as the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu following his conviction in the US on tax fraud and money laundering charges.
