Gov Rotimi Amaechi's Chairman NGF Re-election Speech

Rotimi Amaechi the current Rivers State governor and the current chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum has been re-elected Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) by state Governors at a meeting which held this evening inside the Rivers State Governors Lodge in Abuja.Nigeria.

This is the text of his re-election speech as sent in by........*wink*

''Today our democracy was tested and proven. Democracy is about participation.
The aim of democratic governance is for everyone to partake in winning.
Today the governors have spoken with one voice reaffirming our faith in democratic governance as the hope of Nigeria's future.
I must thank my colleagues for their tenacity and determination to ensure the unity of the forum but more importantly of our nation. We remain committed to supporting our leader, the president and commander in chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to realize the development dream of all Nigerians by reducing tension, uncertainty and insecurity in our beloved country.
We want to pledge our steadfastness and resolve working alongside Mr. President to better the lives of our people as we render transparent and accountable stewardship.

Finally our thanks go to all those who have patiently endured these times especially our constituents and members of the fourth estate of the realm who have followed these elections with keen interest. We promise that we will not betray the confidence you have reposed in us.

Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, CON, Governor, Rivers State''

  6. What is the interest of Gov. Godwill Akpabio? Why is he doing a dirty job? After the election of Gov. Rotimi Amechi as the Chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum(NGF) by 19 to 16 votes to defeat Gov. Jonah Jang, Akpabio called his fellow failed Governors into Akwa Ibom Governor's Lodge at Asokoro where he addressed press conference to reject the result of the election on behalf of PDP Governors Forum.

His reason for rejecting the outcome of the election is because the election took place at the Rivers State Governors Lodge Asokoro, Abuja, that the ballot papers were not numbered serially and that instead of open ballot, the election was done by secrete ballot. He further states that he and other PDP Governors will not recognise Amechi but that they will only recognise Jonah Jang who was defeated by Amechi by 3 votes and Mimiko will be deputy.

Akpabio did not say that the 35 Governors present during the election did not vote but he (Akpabio) cannot understand how it was possible for Amechi to win despite the overbearing influence of the Presidency and the number of signatures they have against Amechi's re-election bid.

Akpabio should burry his head in shame for these lame excuses and for rejecting the most transparent election so far conducted in the history of Governors forum. He should advice Jang to go to Election Petition Tribunal (if any) if he feels aggrieved with the outcome of the election.

I will advice President Goodluck E. Jonathan to parley with Amechi and stop chasing shadow through his pseudo political lame dogs led by Akpabio. Akpabio should ask himself whether PDP Governors are not more than 19 in number and whether opposition governors are up to 19. Who then voted for Amechi if not opposition governors and some PDP Governors who are APC bound including Amechi! As the clock to 2015 is tickling,

    1. Amaechi is worse than Jonathan, I am from Rivers state and he has little or no support from his people, its just the youruba/Hausa agenda to destablize the south. They are just using him.
