  3. Stella stop this name calling. This is the wikipedia definition for you. We can have an intelligent meaningful discussion without resorting to name calling.

A pedophile is a person 13 years of age or older who is primarily or exclusively sexually attracted to children who have not begun puberty (girls 10 years old or less, and boys 11 year old or less, on average).[1][2][3][4][5] The prepubescent child must be at least five years younger than the person in the case of adolescent pedophiles before the attraction can be diagnosed as pedophilia.[1]
Medically, this condition is called "pedophilia" and is classified by the American Psychiatric Association as a mental disorder.[1][6]

  11. Listening to the interviewer debate the issue with Sen. Yerima, shows how shallow his argument. Laws are made to be a leveler. Here is an example of a law in the US that even allows a 13 year old to marry.

New Hampshire: Applicants who has reached the age of 18 can marry without parental consent.
A female between the age of 13 and 17 years and a male between the age of 14 and 17 years can be married only with the permission of their parent (guardian) and a waiver.

  17. I think the woman interviewing the Sen. was bringing sentiment into her questions and the way she asked them. where do you ask a person a question, before the person answers, you tell them your opinion about the question and redirect the question, I think she is displaying how NOT to interview a person.
She seemed adamant in trying to get him to admit he is wrong or to make him contradict himself. And she was put in her place when he disclosed that he has married out his daughters in their teen years, she now tried to generalize the question to OTHER paedophiles after trying to personalize the questions she asked.

It is clear Islamic laws allow marriage to teens, adult, whoever so far there is CONSENT from the family. This does not break any law in our constitution, he got married to the said Egyptian girl in the CENTRAL MOSQUE IN ABUJA. which means it wasn't a hidden or secret affair that he had to be ashamed of, he did it in full public glare.

what he is doing in MY OPINION is not right, but even all of us criticising him have beliefs we practice due to our beliefs in religion. from a logical point of view there is nothing wrong with a man marrying more than one wife but according to the Christian law it is wrong and Christians practise that free from harassment of what so ever.

Now his religion allows him to marry a girl so far he has the parent consent or whom ever is her care taker, so let him practise his religion freely like he does. he has not come to marry your daughter or sister so have YOUR OPINIONS and leave him alone.

If the Senate deems it fit to change the law and the constitution now say marrying young girls is wrong then so be it he would no longer be able to marry young girls,

we Christians have many beliefs we practise that do not necessarily have logical or scientific backing, one is paying of tithe and offering. We do it because it is what we believe in and want to do and it does not infringe on the Nigerian law..

So please let Yerima be, protect your daughters and children and leave the rest to GOD THE ONLY PERSON WHO CAN JUDGE. because the girls we are trying to protect some end up as prostitutes, mistresses, marriage breakers, sluts etc...

WHO ARE WE TO JUDGE:: IF YOU ARE WITHOUT SIN; CAST THE FIRST STONE and PRAY GOD DOESNT JUDGE YOU TOO BECAUSE SIN IS SIN NO MATTER THE GRAVITY..

STEAL N5 YOU ARE A THIEF AND STEAL N1MILLION YOU ARE STILL A THIEF THOUGH THEY MIGHT HAVE DIFFERENT CONSEQUENCES BUT THEY ARE BOTH THIEVES.

    2. I thought you were making sense till I read about the tithe. ..where in the constitution did the government make it a law that every citizen should pay their tithe to a church? It can't be compared to making child marriage legal. ..marriage is a choice one should make for ones self. It is not a decision parents or guardian can make so allow the kuds to grow up and make the decision for themselves. If sherima or whatever he calls himself wants to help a child, he should give her a scholarship and become her mentor. NOT MARRY HER

  30. He is using the media to campaign for 2015.We should all know his tricks. First it was Sharia and the cutting of limbs saga. Now it is child marriage. I think Yerima is a "good Nigerian politician" he knows where to get those that are religously brain washed. All those supporting him can put up their daughters and sisters for sale; for all i care! After fighting for God in the name of Religion,God will judge us as individuals!

People now resort to myopic conclusions and hasty generalization in the name of passing a comment. I humbly take my bow from this blog and wish you (SDK) THE VERY BEST. I love intellectual discuss that elevates the mind.

  35. Aboki na malam wan waka? Eyaaa. I de enjoy some of im comments o. Gbo gbo **abuse fest, name calling, hasty generalization tinz **. He's right though. The way people come here to drop comments without doing careful research beats me. Na by force to comment? Yerima systematically broke our law in a way such that he cannot be prosecuted in Nigeria because of the myopic level of our constitution. In an effort to bring him down by all means the NGOs now want to play the **incoherent immigration papers** card on him hoping that will work. Nigerians should suggest ways to go about this if they have any ideas, but they'll rather put on their usual insultive weapons and come here, feeling high that they've dropped something useful by insulting anyone/anything on sight. Pity. As if Yerima will give two hoots about what you say. SDK, abeg de try discourage some of these insults biko.

  40. A teenager can be matured physically but not mentally for Yerima to say he is given out his 16 yr old daughter for marriage bcos physically she looks matured is the worst statement i've heard from a father, maturity entails for that individual to be able to take good decision making,to know how to behave at the correct time and place. Juvenile delinquency is not an excuse to marry out a child. it is a learning process for that child and as a parent we should be able to guide the child to come out of that stage without regrets. marriage is a life long institution that you ve to be well grounded to come out with flying colours, this flying colours includes the decisions you take that will affect the lives off your offspring forever. This is why we've so many single mothers today, they've found out that their decision to elope with a guy and get pregnant was not the best decision, there is far more to it you are no longer depend on people. the man becomes tired of one lifestyle, the reality of him not achieving his dreams begins to crop in.frustration and anger becomes the other of d day, d woman realises too that this is not what she thought it would look like,it takes a matured woman to handle such situation, how many teenagers will can do that?

  43. Whether the Islamic law permits child marriage or a clause in the Nigerian constitution regards every married person as being of full age, the basic fact is that Child marriage violates a child's fundamental human rights.

    Rights to personal liberty
    Rights to freedom of
    thought, conscience and religion
    Rights to education
    Rights to fairhearing
    Rights to freedom from
discrimination on the grounds of sex.

What should be discussed is how to set things right and not sinking into a disgusting level of beastiality inorder to satisfy the greedy lust of some pot-bellied old men hiding under the garbs of religion.
