Armed Robber Confesses He Became A Thief To Afford N1.5m Bride Price!

Hello?...Just in case you are about to have a son in law marry off your beloveth daughter, please read this before you announce the bride price!

This man had an option to walk away but love pushed him into armed robbery?or would you blame his father in law who gave the N1.5m bride without asking if the boy had a source of income?
Oh well, just read before your head starts calculating!

''A robbery suspect, Mr Godwin Olukporibe, has confessed that he was forced to form a robbery gang when his father-in-law asked him to pay N1.5 million bride price before he could marry his pregnant girlfriend. The suspect was arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Lagos State Police Command, following a tip-off that he was in a hotel with his girlfriend in Ibadan, Oyo State, western Nigeria.

Olukporibe allegedly claimed his father-in-law initially refused to give his daughter’s hand in marriage despite the fact that he had impregnated her and wanted to marry her.
The suspect said that it was after a lot of persuasion that he allow them marry but with the condition that he must give him N1.5 million as bride price.
The suspect said he could not afford the money but because he loved his wife and she was expecting his baby, he was forced to form an armed robbery gang to raise the money.

Olukporibe said he initially went into robbery just to raise the money, but he was encouraged to continue when he made N3 million in his first attempt.
He said he quickly paid the bride price and married his wife without his father- in-law knowing his source of money.

Olukporibe said because of the success of the first robbery operation, he decided to go into full time robbery and later graduated into kidnapping.
The suspect, who hails from Etsako Local Government in Edo State, said he was not really doing any work before he formed the gang and became their leader.
He said the gang used his father’s car to rob people on the highway before they bought the cars they used for their other operations.

Oluporibe confessed that he was involved in several robbery operations on Benin-Lagos, Ibadan-Lagos expressways and Kwara State among others.
On how they operate, Olukporibe said some of the members of the gang usually board buses as passengers and would be communicating with others through phone calls to keep them informed about their progress on the journey.
He said when the targeted bus approaches the destination they have planned to operate, they will block the road and force the driver of the bus to stop.

“If the driver tries to resist, those inside the bus will force him to comply. We will rob the passengers of the bus and carry their belongings to our waiting cars and drive off,” he said.
Olukporibe said he had been a political thug for so many years and went into armed robbery and kidnapping five years ago before he was arrested by the police.
He confessed that he was a political thug for prominent politicians who armed him with weapons such as AK47 rifles to attack their opponents.

He said most times before the operation, the politicians will give him some money and promise to buy good things for him but after the operation, they will distance themselves from him.
Oluporibe said he did not return most of the weapons, which the gang later used for their robbery and kidnapping operations.

He said he regretted to be an armed robber and if given a chance, he would turn a new leaf. He is still in the custody of SARS where he is undergoing interrogation.
Olukporibe has been detained by SARS and would be charged to court soon''  .culled

He had an option of walking away or doing something legal that will fetch him little income to be able to take care of the pregnant girl friend.

Besides he was already a thug and knew how to handle guns.

Do not blame anyone else but yourself for such horrific actions. High way robbery hits close to home for me... I refuse to curse out your Father In law because you alone are responsible for your actions. You chose to steal and terrify other people just so you can keep up appearance. Pray to God for forgiveness and repent whilst you serve your time in Kirikiri. You sir get No pity from me.

  23. Stella, let me narrate my experience sometime ago;
That was how I entered Edegbe from Benin to Lagos. As we were all boarding the bus to leave, four men entered to seat at the very last seats, and my own seat was just before the last row. Immediately they entered, I had a cold chill. I just turned and looked at them. One ws dressed in native while one just wore normal trousers and shirt but looking untidy. The third person within my view was so unkempt and chewing carrot. Only one of them had this laptop bag with him as they entered. From the beginning of that journey I ws so uncomfortable, not knowing the reason till I managed to doze off. Only to wake up after some mins of moving, I immediately turned back and saw that one of the men at the back was kinda standing a little like someone trying to stretch his legs due to cramp, but the thing that caught my attention was that the one with the laptop bag was using the bag to shield the almost standing guy who ws busy ruffling something on his waist...

    ReplyDelete
  24. I just shouted 'driver I wan piss'! The driver ws like 'ahh, he can't stop, dat I should hold on till we got to a more open place or maybe a checkpoint. I hed one of the guy at the back say to d other that its seems dis gal d up to something. I shouted again, 'driver I wan shit'! Ahh, the driver just match brake sey oya oya. By this time we were still in Edo state but abt to enter Ondo. Some hawkers were selling along the road cos it ws a bad spot. Na so I jump down and started looking around me confused. One of the men came down and said I should come let him escort me to the other side of the road to 'shit'. One woman in d bus shouted at him dat how can he say he wantd to escort me to go and shit kwa. So the guy and one other, crossed to the other side of the road where a lorry was packed and watever they did there, I did not know.

Na im I carry my small bag and told the driver that I wasn't going again. That they should continue. Some in the bus started calling me a witch and all kinds of name and d driver called me aside to ask me y I wasn't going again. I murmured to him that I was not comfortable with the men at the back. And I think they no. He said I should enter dat we wld stop at the next chckpoint. I wasn't sure if the driver was involved and I told him not to worry that they should go. Na so them leave me for road. Some hawkers came and asked me wat hapnd and I told dem and they said that as those men came down and crossed the road to ease themselves, whatever they had on them would hv been disposed.
To cut this epistle short, I managed to get a free ride with an FG hilux to d closest checkpoint and I saw the bus parked by the checkpoint, with all the passengers outside. I told the FG veh to stop so I cld get out and immediately they sighted me, they told the policemen that I ws the one that mentioned that according to what the driver told them when they left, that they would stop at the checkpoint cos that gal said she was suspecting some pple at the back seat.

2 of the policemen took me aside and asked me and I narrated but that I wasn't sure and I was not comfortable to continue with them so I just dropped along the way. The asked me to point at the men and I said all the people at the back. They told me to stay by their vehicle on the other side whilst they go back and search everyone. At the end of the day, the discovered almost 30 different handsets in dat laptop bag, some had sims in them. The owner of the bag could not explain why he had plenty fones with sims as he ws also made to provide his phone nos which of course he could not. They took him away in their vehicle while the other 2 (found out the 4th guy ws not among them), were left to continue thought they went to beg for their guy to be released claiming they were begging as co-passengers. We had to reshuffle our seating positions bringing the other two to the front in view of most of the passengers and continued on our journey. Whew!!!

  33. Thief na thief, doesn't matter how you start but the truth is the guy is a their.

The guy lied about what made him start stealing, how can you say your father in law asked you to pay 1.5m for your pregnant girl friend, that i do not believe, even if she is from Mbaise,my friend she is already pregnant why ask you to pay that much?
Am sure that the guy had proved to the father in law that he could afford the bride price may be by show of material things or by telling lies, which ever way i still do not believe this story. He is just looking for who to share the blame with and may be will get pity from the government bailing himself out.

Yesterday two pick pockets thirds were caught around yaba and stoned to death instanta, may be they just wanted food money or transport fare but they were killed immediately, obviously they had a better reason than this poster, this story is annoying, you have no excuse to steal peoples property,no excuse.
