Hell was let loose on Tuesday on Ladega Street in Olodi Apapa area of Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State, as angry residents revolted against the killing of a 32-year-old optician and the medical director of Lens Craft Eye Clinic, Olodi Apapa, Dr. Ikechukwu Oriuwa, by his sister-in-law, identified as Obiageri.
The assailant, a mother of three children allegedly stabbed the victim, described as the younger brother of her husband, to death with a penknife, at their family house located on 52 Ladega Street, following a misunderstanding.
The incident, which occurred at about 10am on Tuesday, took the Oriuwa family from Okwelle Okigwe, Imo State, residents and neighbours by surprise, as no one thought that a little quarrel could lead to murder.
Trouble ensued when the suspect’s generator, which she used in her shop in the building, caught fire. The victim, it was gathered, confronted his sister-in-law, cautioning her against carelessness that could set the building ablaze. The woman reportedly got angry and challenged the victim.
Daily Sun gathered that when the victim saw that the matter was getting out of hand, he retired to his room, but the suspect stormed his room and started smashing his property.
In the process of trying to stop the suspect, whose husband was said to reside abroad, she allegedly pulled a knife, stabbed the victim on the hands and stomach and fled.
Sources stated that the victim was rushed to Zollinger Hospital on Taiwo Street, Olodi Apapa, where he was confirmed dead.
A witness revealed that after stabbing the victim, the suspect ran to Tolu Police Station to report that she had been assaulted by a man. But while she was making the report, tenants in the building also came to the police station to report the death of the optician and the police arrested and detained the woman.
Following his death, youths in the area went on rampage, setting property belonging to the suspect on fire.
Meanwhile, the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, while the body of the medical doctor has been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, DSP Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident and said investigation was on going
“Yes, I have heard about the matter, but we are still investigating it,” she stated.

Well, to me, I think there is more to this story than what was written.

Firstly, she reported the matter as "an assault" (which could be right) BUT given the way our so-called NPF reacts to such issues, she must have been ignored that part which they could easily dismiss as "family matter". Meanwhile, this could have been going on for a while putting into theory that the husband is not around i.e a case of (Flirty Brother-In-Law).
Secondly, it was while she was making the report that the tenants walked into the same station to report the matter as "murder".....so you see?, she could also have been cut off in the middle of her own report and the anger of the incident on the "mob" overrode her own "shock" (as it seems at that time).
Thirdly, I could be wrong in my analysis, because whatever is lurking behind their minds (victim and suspect), one of them is unfortunately not alive to tell his own part of the story which makes hers "doubtful".
Lastly, God help us all. Women! Please be careful of the family who you marry into! And Men! be careful of the kind of women you marry, most especially their temperament....Patience is a virtue!

DeleteThe killer OBIANGELI has a police boy friend she always run to whenever she is fighting or having any misunderstanding with anybody. So it was the same police man that was on morning shift when she came in to make a statement that she has been assaulted by her brother in law before a resident on the street who knew her normal routine of running to the station to make a statement each time there is a fight ran to the same police to meet her boy friend telling her what to write on the statment about TWO FIGHTING not knowing that the person she stabbed is dead. When a neighbour came out to rescue the deceased to the hospital the killer OBIANGELI went ahead to BITE the guy on his arm which lead to the delay in getting the deceased to the hospital. It was a sad day for all of us as i kept on calling my cousin his name IKE IKE IKE IKE IKE IKE hoping he would respondewhich he never did. To my greatest surprised i watched my cousin been wrapped in a black nylon bag and carried into the ambulance that took him to the morgue.

He came out and while telling the kekeman to fix it,the man pushed him down. Baba fell(a man in his sixties) and a tanker driver driving, just hit/climbed him. I pity for this Doctor, after the whole stress and struggle in school and all, I wonder what the family will b going through now. That woman shud b punished, she is evil! I just pray Justice is served. He who kills by the sword should die by the sword. RIP to Mr Oriuwa and God grant the family strenght to bear the loss. Hmmm omashe ooooo!

U are indeed a disgrace to womanhood. I first saw u d day a tout was disgracing u on d street that he has slept with u a thousand times and that u are worthless to him nw. I took tym to find out who u are, when I heard ur story and that u are also a married woman I felt so sad. U Make trouble with every body on that street to d extent nobody buys anything frm ur shop. The other day u hit an elderly woman a chair on d head she stood there looked at u for a long tym and she said ur END IS NEAR. Kia I can't forget dat day cos I almost cried. Its really sad that it was Dr. Iyke dat fell a victim, young and highly intelligent, he's always on his own and full of smiles all d tym. Rest with d lord Dr.Iyke. Obiageri I hope u knw u have layed a curse on ur children. U will suffer, u will knw no peace till u take ur own life. Useless slut.
