Julius Agwu explains to Punch why he wants to be the next governor
The news is going round that you are working at becoming the governor of your state. What is your take on this?
Yes, I am working on that project too at the moment.
Would you call yourself a politician?
I cannot really call myself a politician, but l am someone who prays and wish for things to get better than it is in this country. I believe I can help to achieve what my brother started in Rivers State. It is a known truth that Port Harcourt was the Garden City of this great country, but we lost that glory because of poverty and neglect, coupled with incessant militancy and kidnapping. Governor Amaechi has done well for the State, but we still need good hands after he leaves to continue the good work.
If you are not a politician then why do you want to be the governor of Rivers State?
Becoming the governor of Rivers State was not something that came up overnight. It was not on my radar back then. The people of Rivers State in the Diaspora and those in the State have been clamouring for me to come out as an aspirant. They believe I have what it takes to go for it. It just dawned on me that I indeed have what it takes. I have given it a serious thought and have given in to their pressure.
These people who have been bothering you, would they sponsor your election, if yes, who are they?
Yes, they will. But I do not want to disclose their names for security reasons.
Will you use a political party at the end of the day?
Yes, we shall, eventually, but I do not want to unveil that now.
In your future party, do you think an aspirant from your party will be going for the presidency?
Yes, when the time comes it will be revealed.

*they pressurized him into contesting?okay when they are done with using you,i hope they dump you in one peace.he stick with his comedy and mind his business.I am hundred percent sure governor Amaechi is behind this governorship ambition.

  1. I completely agree with the USA leaving Nigeria out of the peace keeping fund, because those other countries are poorer than Nigeria, Nigeria is a very wealthy country, if our resources are utilised wisely, we might even be richer than the USA, but our leaders and politicians are so corrupt, and the government of Nigeria encourage corruption, a country where looters of public funds and corrupt politicians are given centenary award, and even given political appointment, its appalling and sardonic

  10. I don't know why Nigerian media has followed the west in labelling Patrick a Liberian only.
The caption should be "American brings ebola to Nigeria". I know this makes no difference but let them remember that our bush meat did not give Ebola. Let us look for the cure since they have dealt us the OYO card. May God heal you Justina and everyone currently at risk.

I believe Nigeria was excluded from the grant because of the level of corruption. Their diplomats in Nigeria would have submitted reports and recommendations on whether we need the grant or not. After reading about the millions and billions being shared, do you blame them? You don't scoop water from a bucket into the ocean.

  12. When will our leader have shame? They steal billions of dollars and yet go to beg to share $110m.
They set up a center for disease control, steal the money allocated for research and disease control then go begging.

When will we hold our leaders to account?
Dont we have what it takes to be a great country? Why are we beggers?

    1. The problem is we don't make any demands on our leaders. Why should we beg America for Ebola drug. Don't we have our research institutes? What is the outcome of the money being voted annually by govt for this institutes? We should begin to ask questions and demand for answers.
