PROBLEM NUMBER ONE
HELP HELP HELP!
Hello Stella,
I am an ardent reader of your blog and I must commend the good work. Please I would love for you to publish this because its made me worried.
I am a 25 years old lady. I've been diagnosed of hormonal imbalance before, (high levels of progesterone and follicle stimulating hormone) had an ovarian cyst removed. About a year after that, I had hyperprolactineamia. I'm going into all this details because I want in house doctors to have a good idea of what is going on. Ever since then, I've had really painful menstruation that has led to being admitted in hospital at times.
My period started 2nd of january this year and lasted 7 days as against the normal 3days. The flow after the 3rd day wasn't too much, but it was enough to make me wear sanitary towels. My worry now is that since on the 7th of january till now, I keep discharging blood tissues every morning in small quantities and I am bothered as to what could be the cause of this.
I would love to know if any bv has experienced this, and if its related to a hormonal disorder and is there any thing I can do (diets, exercise et al) to keep my hormones in check? Also, does this mean that I have to try and have a kid soon? Cos that's what a gynaecologist told me.

ReplyDeleteIt's quite common with women with hormonal imbalance, try and see a dr to run some tests and a pelvic scan too.

You were not created to have hormonal imbalance, or whatever else the docs say.
The mother of Jesus (the Blessed Virgin) did not have hormonal imbalance, and so you shall look back on this soon and laugh.

ReplyDeleteI experienced something similar in 2013 during my NYSC I kept discharging blood tissue for 10days I got scared and went to the hospital, series of test was carried out they gave me some drugs and within two days the bleeding stopped..

Dear Poster, i have been there. i had my appendix removed and a cyst was also removed from one of my Ovaries which resulted in hormonal imbalance. i was bleeding for days and it was coming out in clots which was not normal as stated by the Doctor. I was placed on Feroglobin and some other vitabiotics drugs that i cannot remember for now. Please go back to the hospital ASAP. You'll be fine. I'm fine now. no more bleeding just my normal monthly circle and i'm very healthy. Take good care of you sweety

ReplyDeleteI know vitamin B helps to balance hormones, something stronger is Fertilaid,which is something I took when my hormones were not balanced and I had galactorrhea.But please always check with a specialist before taking any medication.
NB Fertilaid actually helps people get pregnant but it has an ingredient that does the balancing work.

DeleteDon't know about everywhere else but its 7 or 8k in PHC might be more now due to the increase in exchange rate. Try HMS pharmacy in GRA. In UK or USA try amazon.com. its $30-40. God bless
DeletePls my advice is see a doctor. What may have worked for Lufizz may not be what you need or may not even work for you rather it may even mess up your system. A doctor would run some test and then treat you accordingly.

DeleteI haerd it works for prople with irregular period. If u have a regular people, pls dint bother using fertilaid. I have a regular period. But started using fertilaid 2months ago. And now my period is everywhere. Before i started using it, i did alot of research and read reviews. Alot of people who have regular periods complained that it made their periods irregular. I ignored all that and still went haerd. I still have the last one at home the same it was shipped to me. So its up to u if u want to try it.

ReplyDeleteEating ewedu helps in reducing the level of prolactin. That i am very sure because i have tried it and i know some of my friends who did and it helped.

Two years ago, I was diagnosed with right ovarian cyst too, I was supposed to go for a surgery, but a nurse called me and told me to start taking contraceptive pills,i started taking postinor2,after that she told me that if it doesn't work I would try to have children because most ladies that go through ovarian cyst surgery, have issues conceiving(its not your portion), after taking those pills for a while,i went back for a scan because my surgery date was approaching, and the scan doctor told me that the cyst has reduced and it is almost gone! It was a testimony, I praised God because I wasn't ready to go through any pain or surgery, this is about two years later and am perfectly fine!

ReplyDeleteHmmmm, doctors in the house please shed more light. I observe that a week or two after my flow (5days strait on) i start spotting blood too but not what I can wear sanitary towel for. I take it as hormonal changes because am closing up to forty. Am also on some hypertensive drugs. It is well.

Hi poster!! I'm so sorry to hear about your predicament.
ReplyDeleteI want you to hon that hormonal imbalance can be secondary to something else, and after you mentioned that you started having increase in prolactin!! It sounded as if , your symptoms are as a result of some endocrine disorder.
And to answer your question about getting pregnant ! I'm sorry your gynaecologist is right !! The earlier you get pregnant the better, was PCOS ruled out though?
I think you should go back to you gynaecologist and explain your new symptoms, all the best dear

Its good u re seeking advice on this platform, but pls see a docto (specialist) as soon as possible, u can try LUTH. If u re not a patient person, try LASUTH, u will get d required treatment. (that is if u reside in Lagos), but if not u can try d teaching hospital in ur state of residence, goodluck dear.

DeleteSorry poster. i had hormonal imbalance when i was 26 year back then, the hospital i was taken treatment then could not know exactly what was wrong with me, they referred me to LUTH, there serial of text was conducted and it was discovered that i was having hormonal imbalance, i cant remember the drug given to me then and i was fine. Maybe you go visit LUTH and you will be fine.

ReplyDeletemy gynecologist checked me in november 2013 and said i had cyst cos of my irregular periods. He gave me combiantion 3 to correct my hormones and the irregular period. Bin on the drug for somtime now and it works well.

ReplyDeleteI have had it before. Progesterone overload and i had my period for 2 months. Some months i won't have while some months will be continuous. I am on birth control so they said it was too much progesterone for me. They gave me estrogen birth control pills and those ones did the magic. It has become relatively better.

ReplyDeleteI had it once when i was a teenager, i used postinor2 more than the 2 times they prescribed in a month and did it for two months. I kept bleeding for 10days straight. The doctor prescribed appil and steele or something like that for me and it stopped immediately.
ReplyDeleteSorry, the appiol and steele didn't stop it immediately. It made the flow become heavier and normal for like 3 days before it stopped.

ReplyDeletemy dear; so sorry.God will heal you.pls you have to do a cervical,pelvic and abdominal scan and also pap semen test; in order to rule out cancer of uterus and cervical cancer too.hyperprolactinemia is hypersecretion of prolactin;the hormone responsible for milk secretion and it can be caused by prolactin secretion tumor ( prolactinoma); pregnancy and use of heavy medication.it can be corrected or controlled by surgery or drug treatment. so pls do those tests and if they come out OK.just know that the cause should be the hormonal imbalance; which I believe that with God and a good gynaecologist you will be OK. all the best dear

Start taking low dose birth control pills regularly, that's once u've ruled out any serious underlying cause of the problem.
ReplyDeleteI've had 2 incidences of abnormal bleeding b4, the most recent been in 2013. Did my research on bcp and discovered that they are very effective in treating hormonal issues, preventing some forms of cancer and inhibiting the growth of fibroids and polyps. BCPs are also recommended for the treatment of PCOS and endometriosis. I've placed myself on bcps and my overall health has improved.

ReplyDeleteI had similar issue in 2013 when i clocked 25yrs. intially it was discovered that i had Hormonal imbalance and placed on Bimocripine medication for several months. As the months progressed, monthly circle was terror to me, as i use at least 7 pads daily (as a result of excessive bleeding)for 14 days. i later went for a comprehensive test in which the scan revealed that i had fibroid (the cause of bleeding) and it requires surgery.
I have done the surgery and the bleeding has greatly reduced however, i am still trusting God for a baby as i got married last year before going for the surgery.
I want to advise that you go for a fibroid scan @ a good hospital and trust God for permanent healing.

ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to what your talking about, sometimes I even assume it's the reminants of my previous miscarriages. Although I ve fibroid which they say is too small for surgery, my periods are as heavy as when a tap is opened. The blood clot is as large as what I don't even know. 5 years of marriage , 7 miscarriages and 2 failed IVF , all this treatment has rendered us as good as broke....... I AM FRUSTRATED ........... Still waiting on GOD..... Madam F
