That event was not a traditional meeting or something Mbok!

    1. The award show was organized for Africans by Africans. What is wrong about it? Dont wear trad to Church again or work or class, only English wear.

It's AFRICA Magic viewers choice awards. A night where awards are given to AFRICAN artistes in various ramifications, based on the ratings by viewers who also happen to be AFRICAN.

What better way to showcase the AFRICAN culture than the flamboyant African style of dressing?

We've copied the Americans so much that we are now more American than they are. SMH

    3. What's wrong there when he is showcasing his African attire!
      And it's so so glamorous!

    4. It's an AFRICAN event. Organised by Africans. For Africans.

When Chinese, Indians, people who still have a sense of culture organise events, is it YOUR ethnic attire they'll wear?

I loved Ali Baba's attire, more so for what it represents.

    5. Na wa. Ali baba are u sure that you aren't making this an issue just to draw our attention to your attire for the night, and perhaps, u wish to be commended for it since no one took special notice of u among the bunch? Eh, just saying.

      Lol @ tribalistic fangs.

But she does have a point...
Lots of Yoruba people are myopic in that regard, they believe Nigeria consists of only Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo people.

If you're not Hausa or Yoruba then to them, you're Igbo.

      Delete
    3. But where did he write that the ladies weds yorubas?

When are we ever going to get out of this our Tribalistic ish in this country?

I never knew how much Igbo people hate Yorubas until I started reading blogs.

Now I suspect all my igbo friends.

  11. Don't mind them, that is why they have been deceiving Geniveive that her dress is fantabulous while the dress I actual fact brought out her down bellow hips. We have finally become Oyinbo unfortunately, our body structure does bot support their kind of cloths, especially for us the women.

  12. And he taught them a lesson.

  13. I actually liked what Alibaba and Kunle wore to the AMVCA, i tot it was like a unique way to dress to an African award ceremony.

But seriously we Africans are gradually losing our cultural values.

    Anyways to each his own.

  16. Good point Alibaba. Why should foreign attire even be worn to a glamorous African event? what better way to showcase our beautiful culture and attire to the world? all we do is copy copy and forget where we come from.

I always say that one can never go wrong to an event in our traditional outfit.

  49. Ali Baba you are so right. Thank you for educating them. I have tried spreading this same message to people I know. We are Africans and should be proud of our culture. We tend to hang on to Western culture and shred ours to bits, but the opposite should be the case. Even the westerners we copy, are more interested in seeing the 'African you'. Adammadu

  50. So he can joke abt people for a living but can't take one?

  51. He should not worry, people mocked the other guys for wearing agbada but the joke is on them not the guys. Nigerians went to the extent of copying Hollywood style dresses e.g. Ini and Mercy looking silly. When we have so many awesome fabrics amd styles. Not that you cant wear English but ours should have been on display more.
