After waiting patiently in her Kensington Palace apartment with her mother Carole over the last few days, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has finally gone into labour.
The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted to St Mary's Hospital, London, in the early stages of labour, Kensington Palace confirmed just after 6.30am this morning.
Prince William (32) is expected to rush to his wife's side, after several days spent driving between the royal residence and Norfolk.
Kate's second child will be delivered at St Mary's Hospital's Lindo Wing, which is where she welcomed George into the world in July 2013.
The 33-year-old was expected to give birth over the weekend, and loyal fans have been waiting outside the hospital eagerly awaiting news of the birth.
Kind hearted Kate had asked her staff to order a delivery of croissants and Danish pastries to send to the baby watchers.CULLED

I wish I was the one in delivery room. There's always something special about birthing a child. Everyone surrounding you and at your beck and call. That's the only time I send my husband on errands and he won't bat an eye lid. And I make sure I maximise the opportunity. Then comes the wardrobe change. Once I get pregnant I put away all my clothes and as soon as I birth my child the shopping spree is something else.
