Clark Tells Buhari To Deal Severely With Those Who Ruined Nigeria

Former federal Commissioner for Information and South South leader, Chief Edwin Clark yesterday raised alarm over the  level of corruption in the country and the economic crunch which have all combined to stagnate the progress of Nigeria over the years. He warned that if President Muhammadu Buhari fails to deal severely with those who ruined Nigeria over the years, Nigeria as a country would sink.

In a six-page letter to President Buhari which was read to journalists yesterday at his Asokoro residence, Abuja, Chief Clark urged him to as a matter of urgency appoint a new Chairman for the Amnesty Programme as a replacement for the immediate past Chairman of the programme, Chief Kingsley Kuku, adding that he would be a sad man if the Amnesty programme fails.

According to the Elder statesman, the President should know what it means to Nigeria as a country to have peace in the Niger Delta, just as he stressed  that quick appointment of a new Chairman even in acting capacity would help stop the imminent disintegration of the programme that has kept the peace in the Niger Delta.

The Ijaw leader said that the vacuum already created following the absence of Kuku’s successor was creating tension and if not managed immediately, it would lead to that era when the activities of the militants in the creeks, contributed to crude oil fall to about 7,000 barrel per day, compared to the present situation of 2.5 million barrel per day, adding that the problem with the programme at the moment, was lack of an authority to operate the account of the programme.

According to him, “the economy of the country and the eradication of corruption which has become systematic and endemic that has stagnated the progress of this country over the years and the culprit if not severely dealt with will sink the country. We, therefore, pray the Almighty God that these discussions will materialise and  achieve the desired result.

“Secondly, I now respectfully wish to bring to the attention of Mr. President the imminent danger facing the Amnesty programme.

It would be recalled, that the former chairman of Amnesty programme and Adviser to Mr. President on Niger Delta Affairs, Chief Kingsley Kuku has since vacated his office as a result of change of government, but unfortunately, he has not been replaced by an appointee even in acting capacity by Mr. President, and as a result, the whole programme for now, is without leadership, and no one has the authority to operate the account of the Amnesty programme.”

    2. What?? Clark is talking? I don't believe this!!! Clark? Ahahah now I know what it means for power to change hands. Same Clark that sandwiched Jonathan and didn't allow him listen to wise counsel?.

Same Clark that turned aso rock into his bedroom, and controlled everyone including Jonathan. And while he was there, he didn't insist that Jonathan should tackle corruption. Now he has the effrontery to raise his concern to the new President? I sincerely would not want to rubbish an old man. So I'll act like I didn't open this post

    5. You love Biafra, you want Biafra, you
dream Biafra and you will die for
Biafra. You see Ojukwu as your Hero
and the leader of the Biafra nation
and yet you refused voting for him in
      2003 presidential elections. Even in
      2007 presidential elections, Majority
of the people in "Biafra Land" did not
vote for their hero Ojukwu and
thereby blowing the only chance they
had to give Biafra a teeth. One
interesting fact is that, in 2003,
Ojukwu got only 3 votes in Bayelsa
State, 27 in Delta, etc. In 2007, he
      recorded just 155,947 vote which
represented a meager 0.44% of the
total votes. He did not win any state
in "Biafra Land". He could not even
amass 5% of the total vote cast in
      Abia, Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi,
Cross River, Akwa Ibom, etc. Yet you
claim and cling to the Biafra dream".
And you think you will deceive a dead man by visiting his grave for blessing.
One day, he will give you clowns the "Old Roger treatment".

  10. Please just shut it. It is funny how known crooks in this country have suddenly caught the holy ghost. Mr Clark what next? Will you decamp?
Abeg EFCC should take a close look at this man. Now that GEJ isnt in power lets see how you will get the necessary funds to run your university. A word of advice; downgrade that your university to a secondary school. Also thank God for your mediocrity as it will save you some money, especially as the structures on ground is fit only for a secondary school.

  17. Isn't the amnesty in Niger delta one of the corrupt things Buhari is trying to tackle? Why pay civilians money to do a job that a government agency should be able to handle? Let's do away with the amnesty, the worst that will happen is nigeria will realize it's not only oil we can use to survive. It's not like oil is only in the Niger delta. Mtshewwww

    1. So long as he tries and arrests all the people who own the foreign accounts where our money was siphoned to, I don't care. UK, EU, world Bank and USA has already signposted Buhari to these accounts containing billions stolen over decades. How hard is it to identify and prosecute? What's the point only prosecuting the owners of accounts from the last Govt? Is stolen monet still not stolen money after 20yrs?

  25. He is afraid of prosecution same advise he could not accord his beloveth son Jonathan after wasteful years and resources, he want same PMB he called names to correct things his son couldn't do. He wanted his son to rule for 8Years like OBJ did followed by threat from his boys like Asari and co where are they now? yet again the reality is down on them that Nigeria belong to Nigerians. Same Clark will still cry foul if PMB start arresting all of them, 2face dishonest man. Amnesty shit they use as pipeline to loot, they are all aware of Niger delta students under amnesty who are stranded overseas due to lack of fund none cares about those boys.
He gave Jonathan ill-advise,supported his government and never told his son the honest truth even when he knew things were bad. He want to act like the mouth-peace of Niger delta citizens from his Abuja comfortable home billionaire clark.
He is the arrow head of Niger delta problem, a very selfish man like most politicians he is only seeking relevance.
PMB please ignore him and do your thing, your way because if you fail only you will face the wrath from Nigerians.

  31. They think people are stupid. Jonathan became president by mistake because of the death of Yaradua. We have seen how those people are, they were given a chance and they turned out to be the worst people to ever rule this country. Nobody from that part of Nigeria will ever rule our country again.
