  1. How I wish there is something like the citizens advice bureau in Nigeria,so as to get a caseworker to fight this out.

    1. Sarah, there is NOTHING. to fight. Its called espionage. It's called non disclosure agreement. Some even take it further in the terms of agreement that should you leave their employ, you still aren't allowed to disclose certain info.

I don't know the details but if I were her, she should check her letter of employment very well. Otherwise, she might even be facing a lawsuit If she signed a non disclosure agreement.

We must be careful in this country. We are taking our Freedom of speech and access to social media too far.

Madam I know you did it with a clear heart but you were wrong. You should have known better. As a civil servant, you DON'T make comments on any public platform about your employers. So sorry though. You will find something better.

  11. She should look for another job already. I hate women that talks before thinking

  12. Stella, stop passing wrong information - in England where I live the government will NOT SACK you for having a different opinion. There isrecourse to union laws - and the courts. The media too is big on employment rights' abuse. What this girl has done is hold the government up to its failings. It is only in Nigeria a government can be so bold in its human righta abuse.

  13. I don't see the problem here. You have freedom of speech and you choose to exercise it. Also realise your employer has freedom of choice and if your employment is at will, so your freedom of speech does not limit your employer's freedom of choice.

  17. This is called conflict of interest. You can't criticize a govt that pays you. You want to criticize, resign first! So even though your post was on point, they were right to let you go. You could have sent a memo to the appropriate quarters not a fcbk post.

    3. Which Govt?

Ben Murray Is he not part of d Govt he is speaking against (wether he is genuine or not is not the issue here)

It's high time we stopped keeping quiet about some of these things.
How can we move forward as a people or as a nation if we claim to know all n let no one critique us?it's unimaginable!
And ask urself, would she have said anything if things were working fine? Would she? No.

They are claiming she "breached" her contract by talking whereas they d Govt breached that contract first by not providing all it swore to provide for its citizens n more.by not protecting the lives of d citizens,by d many unfulfilled promises now long-forgotten.

And just so u know. You are the Government.I am d Government.
All of us are d Government.

  25. That is the kind of world we live in. I live in a house where the rent is supposed to be N12,500 . Before the end of the month we ae made to pay 140k sometimes N14,500. because we compelled to pay security N1k, fuel for pumping water 500. Sometimes we contribute 1500 in a month just for pumping the water. A situation where the landlord uses the opportunity to power his house whilst water is pumping. Everybody finds this faulty but nobody has been able to summon courage to address the issue as it is. I don't understand what they fear. I have taken that bold step not to sponsor the N500 contribution madness again nd my landlord has ensued that my line doesn't get water. *ignore my typo errors *

    2. Nne,ur landlord dey try sef. Do u realise he uses his own gen to power the pumping machine while d rest of u pamper ur own? Do u know that one thing that spoils generators easily is pumping machine because of the heavy load it puts on d gen?...now do u contribute money to fix d gen when iy breaks downs or needs serving??? I am sure d answer is No. If ur landlord decided not to use his gen again to pump water,do u know u will spend more than 1500 in a month to pay Mallam or whoever to fetch u water,or probably do the stress of looking for a well to draw water??? U are just checking d money u are paying, forgetting that it's not easy to use ur gen to pump water for everybody to use. Again,u mentioned paying for security, are u prepared to do the night guard urself??? Pls go and sleep biko. Ingrate!

  26. It's not a bad thing you said but it's Highly unethical to speak about your employers in a way that presents them in negative light especially when you're still under their payroll.

  30. its true sha. you cant work in an office and critique them on face book. usually you go to those responsible within the syatem and try to make a difference from within. sometimes you get an NGO from outside to make the noise

when you go to face book, you're then playing the role of an activist. now that they've sacked her, she can take on activism full time and blog and criticize as much as she likes on social media. you cant have it both ways

    ReplyDelete
  31. U had these opinions about your employer and decided to embarrass them by taking to social media? U were rightly fired! Next!

  33. Hmmm.. what is contained in the paragraph A of her appointment letter?? She should have published that too. Only then can I make a meaningful submission as regards this.
Let us be mindful that everyone has a contract of employment by which the must abide. Otherwise do not sign what u do not understand.
Lest we misconstrue our rights as citizens with our work etiquette as employees

  34. It's simple, you cannot talk bad about the government and then expect the same government to pay you at the end of the month. It's called loyalty because they pay your bill. As them don sack you, you can now practice privately n critise the hell out if Ta'al.

  38. Madam, why didn't you talk to your oga at the top in your office and tell him what you felt about the situation of things at that time rather than coming out to post it ok face book. Your job is like your husband. If you openly criticise your husband, he will openly send you packing. It is well.

  39. FROM MY INBOX

    Hello Stella,
It's been ages I wrote you. Happy new year to you. Please find below my two cents on the sacking of Ruqayat. She needs to take several seats and stop seeking sympathy.

Excuse me madam but you're all shades of confused if you expect to keep your political appointment after outing the same system that puts food on your table. You can't eat your cake and have it. Mbanu!!

Who does that? What were you thinking? He who goes to equity must go with clean hands. Madam you did wrong!!!

Let's call a spade what it is, a bloody spade!

Now you go to social media seeking supporters? I laugh in Spanish.

Freedom of speech is for those of us who are not direct beneficiaries of the national cake. Apparently the governor or commissioner or somebody in govt put you in that position. And you had the temerity to call out the one who pays the Piper? That invariably meant you had your baggage all packed and ready to leave.

This is done everywhere in the world, be it politics or in the corporate world, even in our everyday dealings with people. You can't be taking my money and be telling people that I'm not a good person. If I hear it, you're toast! I send you to hell. It has nothing to do with what party you're rooting for. If an employee decides to boldly out his employers, that means he's fully ready for the repercussions of this action.

Now madam Ruqayaah, go home and lick your wounds and also gnash your teeth in regret while you're at it! Your case is a non-issue.

    Signed
    BV--Her Royal Hotness

Don't speak ill of your employer, else you are roasted! She should've resigned when she knew she had negative comments about them, it's pretty simple....

What an unprofessionalism act Ruqayyah :(
