Women Wearing Agbada - Fashion Or Abomination?

What is wrong with women wearing Agbada? Why are some people so Myopic and backward?
My Opinion? Please take several seats if you think women should not dress like this!

''Hello Stella, can we talk about women wearing Agbada as a trend? . I had an argument with a friend who displayed it on her dp with this Bm (Where and When do we draw a line between fashion and abomination? Women now wear masculine Agbada all in the name of fashion. what's this world becoming") I really want to know BVs opinions on it and probably send the link of the post if it get posted for her to read . Thanks''

What is your opinion?Have a solid argument to back up what you argue or just take several seats at any stadium near you.lol

    2. I can't even believe that it's a woman that's saying this shit. That woman with that on her dp should take several seats down. What's wrong with that. Fashion is no repecter of gender or person. It has a force of its own. Does she wear jeans, boyfriend jackets, etc. Don't you see guys wearing skirts? Or is it only in naija that a stupid dressing is an abomination. Do u know men were the first to wear heels? I can go on and on but your friend is a small minded person with a stupid slave mentality. Mcheew! I hate such! Turn something as innovative as this into something very very useless and stupid. She should read this comment. In generations to come, just get ready to see more! Mcheew. Go and nyash down and continue being used as a doormat. Weak minded fool!!!!

    4. In the yoruba context. It's to masculine. In those days, when a king dies, sometimes they appoint a regent. In the yoruba culture if the regent is a woman, she is made to dress like a man, wear agbada and even go as far as wearing men shoes. It's wasn't a fashionable thing at all then. It was for a reason till they appoint a new king. So one can actually say it's annoying and uncalled for. Since when I started seeing women wearing it the whole glam of agbada went down hill. The other one women wear is better but agbada is jus overkilling. I think it's the western culture we are imbibing into ours. If u fill comfortable in it. Fine. But I cannot imagine I and my husband wearing agbada to the same event.

I dont know if it's an abomination or not I just don't like it on women n that's my opinion.

    9. Tess baby, just like you can't wear trainers and jeans or something flimsy to go see the father of your suitor. Thats different. If you're meeting your. Soon to be father-in-law, you will dress well. It is a different argument altogether please.

    10. My own is that I've seen people abuse it and it has become so razz. People do not understand there's something called finesse. Not everyone has the grace to pull certain fashion statement, but in Nigeria people like to go with the crowd without being distinct. Until they abuse a thing they won't stop. Now it's like pure water and very annoying. That's my own

  2. For me i think its cool and decent than putting on clothes that exposes ones body parts all in the name of fashion.

  3. As long as you are not excess skin, I am fine with whatever a lady decides to wear.
You like it, you can afford it and it looks good on you then you are good to go.
What is masculine or feminine is not my concern.
Men now wear gown like cloths like tops even skirts so there is really no limit to what is fashionable.

  6. It's fashion please. How can wearing agbada become abomination? Not like the men can wear the agbada made for women. I see no reason why we should subject ourselves to mental and gender slavery. This is the 21st century biko, live and let live. Though I don't think I would be caught wearing the agbada because I am not a fan of the style, but I have no problem with women rocking the outfit. The trend has come to stay, nothing like abomination.

  18. Humans and conscious biases... Dear poster, try being deep with serious issues, issues that will help the society or get us using our thinking caps. It's almost as if we don't have worries anymore in Nigeria, cos I can't imagine someone talking about agbada and it's boundaries when we have more pressing issues.

  27. Which one is masculine agbada again?

If the person wants us to be myopic, then, here's my view : The upper part of an agbada is a feminine wear,it's a gown.... Mtchewww.

    Abegi.

It's the same people that come out to say trousers are masculine, I don't go to the market to buy masculine trousers.

I wear feminine trousers and I don't care about those that come at me with Deut 22:5. They need to really understand the scriptures, because obviously, they don't.

As long as a particular clothing is tailored towards feminine standards, it is a feminine wear.
