Buhari Replies Wife On Cabinet Hijack Claim,Says ''She Belongs To My Kitchen''

President Muhammadu Buhari has responded to a remark by his wife, Aisha, that his government has been hijacked by a cabal.
Mr. Buhari spoke in the German capital, Berlin, when he answered reporters’ questions.

“I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room,” the Associated Press quoted the president as saying.

“So I claim superior knowledge over her and the rest of the opposition because in the end I have succeeded.
“It’s not easy to satisfy the whole Nigerian opposition parties or to participate in the government.”

Mrs. Buhari had said she might not back her husband’s re-election in 2019 unless he shakes up his cabinet.
In an interview with the BBC, Mrs. Buhari said the president “does not know” most of the top officials he appointed to office.

Mr. Buhari has not indicated whether or not he will seek re-election, and according to his wife, he has not told his family too.
“He is yet to tell me (if he’ll seek re-election) but I have decided as his wife, that if things continue like this up to 2019, I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again,” she said.
The Nigerian leader is allowed by the constitution to seek re-election for a second term in office.

Should he seek re-election, he is expected to be the candidate to beat for his All Progressives Congress, APC, party; although he could be challenged by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who lost to him in the 2014 primaries.
Mrs. Buhari also gave indication of something which has caused silent anger amongst some leaders of the APC.

She said some of the president’s appointees did not share the vision of his party and were appointed because of the influence of a “few people.”
“Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position,” she said.
Asked to name those who had hijacked the government, she refused, saying: “You will know them if you watch television.”

One name that has been repeatedly mentioned as having a strong influence in Mr. Buhari’s appointments is his cousin, Mamman Daura.
Mr. Daura, who holds no official position, is said to be the most powerful man in the presidency and is said to have Mr. Buhari’s ears.

There had been rumours within the Aso Villa of him having clashes with Mrs. Buhari over his influence on the president.
On whether the president was in charge of his administration, Mrs. Buhari said: “That is left for the people to decide.”
Mrs. Buhari’s decision to go public with her concerns may shock many people, but it shows the level of discontent with the president’s leadership, the BBC quotes its reporter Naziru Mikailu, as saying Abuja.

Speaking further on the appointments, Mrs. Buhari said, “The president does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and I don’t know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years.”
She also mentioned the improvement of security in the north-east as her husband’s major achievement.

“No-one is complaining about being attacked in their own homes. Thankfully everyone can walk around freely, go to places of worship, etc. Even kids in Maiduguri have returned to schools,” Mrs. Buhari said.

*Just wondering why they both decided to fight each other using foreign media..as if Nigerian media cannot do a good job.

I don't what happened between them but this is highly embarrassing and i don't even know what to say....HOWEVER I ALSO DO NOT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS,I STAND WITH MRS BUHARI for being bold enough to take a stand on what she thinks is wrong with her husband's government...Gone are the days when women are puppets, are made to play that role and relegated to the bedroom and Kitchen.
Well done Aisha Buhari!!!.

I could have said what Mrs Buhari said either as a First Lady of a country or a First Lady of my home. It makes a lot of sense, obviously this wasn't their agreement. This wasn't his agreement with the masses. Smh for those who sees common sense as spiritual attack on the nation or the presidency.

Mrs Buhari is bold, I like her gut and courage.

This man has always been a disaster. The people that imposed him on us knew this very well. That was why they made sure he didn't participate in any debate pre-election. They also didn't allow him more than a minute or two during their campaigns because they knew he'd give himself away. He lacks the basics of decent oratory. And I believe his brain is also programmed that same way. To think that he made this gaffe as a guest to a female world leader! How did we offend God to end up with this 18th century ultra-conservative please? How did we come about this relic?

Aisha really impressed me.

What really beats me is how he could have said this in the presence of one of the greatest woman in the world.

And some were saying the other president was clueless. If this isn't the height of it, I wonder what is.

The last time he was in Germany, he goofed. Now, this. This is someone that is representing a whole country making careless remarks upandan.

The committee of feminists are going to have his head for this I'm sure.

"The other room" Indeed.

I'm just disappointed.

But why wash your dirty laundry in the public? All I see is a woman that is disobedient to her husband,no wonder he does not ask for her input in decision making.

Lol. You guys are sweating yourselves over nothing. I'm more than certain that Buhari and his wife have no issues.

And there's nothing embarrassing in the interview she granted, like you said, she aired her opinion, albeit it may sound like a contradiction of what her husband stands for. But I implore Nigerians to carefully read her interview for a better understanding, so to be able to reach an unbiased conclusion.

It's more like Aisha is being compelled to speak on behalf of their party faithful. Her husband understands this, hence the laughter in his response.

Inasmuch as President Buhari hasn't really impressed, I do not think it is right for her to publicly criticise her husband irrespective of whatever they are going through. Every couple have their shortcomings and I do not think airing your dirty laundry in public is the solution.
Stella, I know you and your husband must have your fighting days, but do you go about criticising him for the world to know what's going behind closed door? What if your husband becomes President tomorrow and he is not really surpassing the expectations of its citizens, will you come out and publicly criticise him?

I love her guts but this isn't the the right way to go about it. Since she sensed something is wrong, why not tackle it within and withdraw her support gradually should he refuse to see the bigger picture cos in the end, he's still her husband and the father of her kids but this open show of disloyalty no follow.

You have to be a politicians wife to understand aisha point of view. She means well for husband, probably she has been talking to him and he is not listening, when his govt fails she won't be spared too. One thing people must know is that There are alot of cabal who hijack both the seat of power and even ones husband, like the Presidents cousin who is playing God now has hijacked buhari's govt with less regard to his wife and all those who meant well for her husbands govt.dont be surprised that those so called canal were not there when they needed them most and now they want to come reap where they did not sow, especially at the detriment of good governance. I understand her very well and I admire her boldness.because of a truth a good wife should tell her husband the truth at all time, no matter how bitter it may seem. Love to aisha buhari And every other woman who tells her husband the truth at all time.
