- Two persons, a woman and her child, were crushed to death in a terrible auto mishap on Kugbo hill, along the ever-busy Nynaya – Maraba road, Abuja on Friday.
The accident, which occurred after a trailer conveying Pepsi product failed brake and rammed into a Toyota Academy, left several others injured.


- President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that remaining abducted Chibok girls would soon be freed.
Buhari, while speaking at a joint press conference with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, said his administration will continue to push for the release of the other girls.


- President Muhammadu Buhari has described his wife as a kitchen material who has nothing to do with politics.
When Buhari was asked to comment on the recent outburst of his wife about his administration ‎Buhari laughed it off and said “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room.”


- Acting National Publicity Secretary of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has hailed the recent interview granted to the BBC by wife of the president, Aisha Buhari.
In a statement issued Friday in Abuja, Frank said the comments were not meant to discredit the present administration.

- Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) has stated that the Federal Government has no exact figure of Nigeria’s looted funds abroad.
He said Nigeria would continue to liaise with other countries on the repatriation of the looted funds, but that the exact figures might be difficult to ascertain.


- Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has affirmed that things will turn around for the better when Nigerians turn away from their evil ways and walk in righteousness.
The Vice President, who made the remark at a Special Banquet to mark the 20th anniversary of Nigeria Prays, said if the citizens truly believed in and walked in the ways of Jesus Christ whom they profess, the country would clearly witness a turn-around.


- Embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has again averred that he would not relent until he actualizes the Republic of Biafra.
Kanu who made the declaration as he marks his one year in detention despite been granted bail by several courts, said it was either death or Biafra.


-Gunmen during the week snatched the pilot vehicle of the Cross River State deputy governor, Prof Ivara Esu, killing the driver and a policeman in the process.
The tragic incident occurred along Goldie Street, opposite the NNPC filling station in Calabar, when the pilot vehicle ran into a group of heavily armed cultists who were marching along the streets in the area.


-The Joint Military Task Force in the Niger Delta, Operation Delta SAFE, has nabbed two militant leaders and discovered three human skulls in the ongoing military operations.
Lt.-Cdr. Thomas Otuji, the Spokesman of the taskforce said that troops raided a shrine used by militants and discovered the three human skulls.


- A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to accept businessman, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming governorship election.

Justice Okon Abang gave the order for the enforcement of his earlier judgment delivered on June 29, 2016. He said that Eyitayo Jegede currently recognised by INEC as the governorship candidate should be dropped for Jimoh Ibrahim.
