Sacked Workers Of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company Recalled

The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company has recalled 130 workers it retrenched in February, Garba Haruna, Managing Director of the company says.

He made the disclosure at the opening of a five-day training for the re-engaged staff in Kaduna on Thursday.
He called on them to reciprocate the gesture through hard work and dedication to duty.

Haruna said the company had put in place a mechanism to monitor the performance of the reinstated staff every week.

He charged them to use the opportunity to leverage on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), for effective discharge of their responsibilities.

The workers were disengaged over poor performance barely two years after they were employed.
The sack was opposed by unions who held meetings with management and demanded the reinstatement of the retrenched workers.

Alhaji Yusuf Hamisu, Chairman of the company, had in a meeting with the state’s chapter of the National Union of Electricity Employees and Senior staff union, pledged to reinstate some of the workers.
