And wat is wrong with it? The person that wrote this thing has issues. Don't ppl bow to the queen of England? It's our culture biko let it be preserved. If the culture is to lie flat then do it. Religion nd cultures of others should be respected as long as no one is getting hurt. Wen in Rome behave like a fucking roman!

The person that post this does not deserve an answer. Just to clear his ignorance, in Yoruba land, a subject knees or prostrate before a king, especially a first class king like the Oni of Ife, is Nnamdi KANU a king? Is not because he is a god, even if u are older than the king, you must respect the crown.

Yori Yori Princess Loveme Jeje said...

hahahahaha respect that is what they call it

Very foolish comment. I'm igbo and there was absolutely no reason to kneel before that fraud Kanu. His father as an igwe, okay but never him. One clown told me he's a prophet another that he's in holy trance when he speaks. Him don run leave una na. The Ooni is the a King and subjects kneel b4 kings. Let radio biafra talk of more pertinent issues and how to effectively and peacefully deal with them

It is called respect and culture in Yorubaland!

stacey oladele said...

These is our tradition and culture to knee before an Elder and not just a myopic minded soul like kanu.

Mz Poundz said...

The Ooni is a king, a first class king. Nnamdi kanu isn't a king, in yoruba land, women don't stand while greeting an elder not to talk of a king, can't say same of Igbo people tho.

Hahahaha Hahahaha

The Grey Goose said...

It is a known fact that kneeling to greet your elders in a Yoruba culture. So no one will find this strange if it as done by a Yoruba person. Is Nnamdi kanu a Yoruba man? And it is also a known fact that Igbos don't believe in kneeling to greet. The two actions cannot be compared please!

Anonymous said...

Yorubas kneel as a sign of respect for adults and monarchs not for self imposed block heads like Nnamdi

Anonymous said...

This is Yoruba culture na. Not strange atall. You kneel/prostrate to greet an oba.
How do Igbos greet their kings? Is Nnamdi Kanu a king?? So wats d basis of d comparism? This is OOni of Ife. Nnmadi Kanu is who?

It's their culture nah

The person that wrote this post is a big fool.
A Yoruba boy would prostrate flat to greet his parent even to his older brother/ sister that is 3 year older than him...That is the Yoruba culture

Yoruba would never address his/her older relatives by their first names... There is always culture of brother so so so or auntie so so so ...That is the Yoruba culture

A Yoruba man no matter how rich or old would never greet the king just by handshake more reason why Baba Olusegun Obasanjo prostrated to the Ooni,.... its the culture

We all know it is very different to the Ibos that can address anyone by name, shake anyone or greet parents anyhow ( that doesn't mean there is no respect) but its their culture

So the fool that posted this forgot to understand that the Yoruba culture is different from the Ibo culture

The person that wrote this has leidoscropinian, what concerns ooni with kaanu, in yoruba land u prostrate to great an elder, not ibos that use kick to wake their father up in the morning, God forbid any of my kids bring home any ibo to marry, a wonderful Iran Kiran

Anonymous said...

So that means you can't marry a yoruba girl, because part of the marriage rites require you to prostrate.

Anonymous said...

Pls, kindly visit alaafin/ooni or sultan/emir of kano or oba of benin/oba of Lagos's palace and when u see any of them just stretch your hand to say hi and see if you will walk out of there whole. At least you can claim human right with human right commissin or Nigeria constitution for the police against them and let see what will happen. Be there claiming voltron and super ted.

Is Nnamdi Kanu a king or Oba???

Anonymous said...

Nitwit. You knelt down for the con man Kanu at your own risk.

Samantha I said...

This is our tradition to kneel before an oba irrespective of his age. Nnamdi KANU can be compared with gani Adams who are individuals concerned about justice being delivered to their irrespective tribes. I can't bow to gani because he is not a king but some Igbo's did that to KANU and that is the DIFFERENCE.

STARRY LARRY said...

@Eka what are you waiting to hear? Are you not living in Yorubaland? Don't you know how we respect our elders let alone a world class Oba? She should be happy she's chanced to move that close to him, that is our tradition, I don't know maybe in Igbo land, they stand and shake hands with their Oba o, because I know we're not in same level when it comes to respecting elders.

For the people comparing a whole Oonirisa to that Biafraud Kanu, it's a sign of mental sickness

STARRY LARRY said...

Yes, you'd better stay on your lane, even the mighty baba Obasanjo visited Ooni and laid flat to greet him. That's someone who's old enough to born Ooni.

Even if Ooni's mother visit him in his palace/public place, she must bow to greet her son, that's our tradition

What is this sad person saying? Yorubas kneel for their parents, grand parents, uncles, aunties and much older ones. It's a sign of respect.

Greatlady. said...

@Starry, you can kindly state your point without calling BIAFRA the name you called it. Respect the historical record that brought that name about.

Anonymous said...

I wonder oh. Fools everywhere, is it today Yorubas started kneeling and postrating?? Mstchew!! Anything to score cheap points.

Isek said...

Stupid question.

DON™ said...

That's the way a woman knee down in front of a king. Whoever comparing Ooni to Kanu is a fool that has no tradition or culture.

Push up said...

So she can't simply make a statement because she stays in Yoruba land abi? Mtvhew keep looking for trouble where there's non... yet you had to disrespect another's heritage and you are the respectful one

STARRY LARRY said...

Greatlady and Push up, where were you when the likes of queen and boss and others do refer to Yoruba as Yaraba and other derogatory words against us? So you mean this Biafraud statement can pain you this much?

*Larry was here*

Eka Joy said...

Ahn ahn. But with this ur definition, can't we also just say that it's their way of respecting the person they have supposedly chosen as their leader????

Anonymous said...

Ibos na wa o. How do you even compare an oba with nnamdi?
Now I know some. People have no culture
