    2. They have to start high o. If they make it 200k,govt will beat it down to 40k. So it's good they started at this figure. We all know it would never be more than 100k in the end. We pray say e go reach sef..

    1. With the way things are going up daily, government will need to find a way to pay more. Why can't the so called government also cut cost. No more aboard medicals, all should be done in Nigeria. Cut their salaries and allowances. But greed would not let them.

  5. The amount is not even high. It works out to a mere $400+. I pay around the same amount just for food monthly. Seems like a fair request for a living wage.

  6. This has got to be a joke right?

  7. This is not realistic abeg. The NLC should push fir a better economy. Their concern should be how the government can make export and import work. Once this is sorted out, naira will appreciate against the dollar and things will become relatively cheap.

If N615,000 is approved as minimum wage, I bet you we will buy a bag of rice at 200k or more sef.

    1. Pretty girlie, u kno there is smthn called mandate right? It is not part of the mandate of the NLC to push for import n export, primarily, their mandate is the rights and welfare of workers.

  9. One of the problems with Africa is that Africans do not believe they deserve better. They are happy with struggle in their own lands because they have been taught to believe that is what they deserve by virtue of being Africans. We are no less than any other ppl on this planet. Black skin does not mean substandard.

The money is there, if it wasn’t how would those roaches be stealing, dealing in corruption, educating their children in the best schools, having family doctors in the abroad and having dozens of properties with billions in their bank accounts. Teachers are making the equivalent of $30 monthly, some are making way less. Every person should be making a living wage. If it is impossible to pay at a higher rate then make education free, provide students with breakfast and lunches up to secondary school. Make tertiary education free, make healthcare free, provide good roads everywhere and easy access to water and electricity. You cannot ask ppl to accept low and unrealistic wages and then give them nothing to ease the cost of living. Pay them higher or pay them the same and create a society where they do not have so much out of pocket expenses for basic things. I am sick of Africans having to think of going elsewhere to survive while outsiders come into the continent and leave millionaires. When will governments start putting Africans first? When will a child born in a hut in some remote village know that they will have a great life just because they have been born in a great land?
