One day,she was telling me about one of her aunties who's husband died of aids after infecting the wife, she said she's scared of visiting the aunty after she relocated back home, that she's scared of contacting hiv, I told her if she goes about testing people before visiting their house or if she test people before they visit her too.
I told her hiv is one of the hardest virus to transmit. She doesn't know my status and she's free with me and eats in my house,I'm sure if she does she would have ran away from me,lols.
A lot of us are like her, whereas we only stigmatized against people we knew their status, what of lots that we don't know or even they themselves are not aware.
Went to the market with my mom some years back and she said she doesn't like buying locust beans from one woman cos she looks like someone that has hiv, how does someone that has hiv look like? If only she knew her darling daughter is also a victim .
I used to sensitise people on hiv before but my husband said I should stop it cos people might suspect I'm also infected, so I keep my mouth shut these days when people are talking about the virus ignorantly.
Meanwhile cancer is killing people quicker than the virus
ReplyDeleteHIV has been so stigmatized that ppl forget hepatitis
ReplyDeleteThis! Because you have to first know of it to forget it.
DeleteSo true
DeleteI agree with your hubby, they will start suspecting. Lack of knowledge makes our people to dread the virus
ReplyDeleteWith ARD that’s accessible now, hiv is like malaria once you take your drugs judiciously.
ReplyDeleteIf HIV is sexually transmitted, how did the first person get it???

DeleteShort answer - Beastiality - Homosexuality - and then to the world at large.
First human contact is through sexual intercourse with an animal - a dog, a pig, a horse, an ape, or a goat.
