October 1 Synopsis

It’s September 1960, and with Nigeria on the verge of independence from British colonial rule, a northern Nigerian Police Detective, DAN WAZIRI, is urgently despatched by the Colonial Government to the trading post town of Akote in the Western Region of Nigeria to solve a series of female murders that have struck horror in the hearts and minds of the local community. On getting to Akote, more murders are committed, and with local tension high and volatile, Waziri has a race on his hands to solve the case before even more local women are killed.
Set against the backdrop of the national celebratory mood of the impending independence, Waziri is pulled into a game of cat and mouse as he and the killer try to outwit each other… leading to the climatic end in which the life of a popular local female teacher and village belle, TAWA, is held in the balance. Waziri has to race against the clock to capture the killer, save Tawa and solve the crime before the British flag is lowered and the Nigerian flag raised on Independence Day… October 1st.

ReplyDeleteHi Stella, I need help with this issue. I got a job offer last month with an oil and gas coy as an admin executive. I resumed on the 1st of this month, my first day on the job, the HOD of my department calls me and warns me about certain things, people and how to go about doing my job to the best of my ability. He also mentioned sexual harassment(I think they've had a couple of issues, cause there's a recent memo from the president of the coy concerning it). Sometime last week, I took documents to the GM's office to be signed and he goes on and on about how he sees me as his daughter and asked me to give him a hug, I thought it was odd and unprofessional, I smiled my way out of the hug. I waited to get the documents signed, got them and was walking out when this man tried to give me a peak. Today, he walks into my office and says "oh my daughter, how are you today". He tried to touch my bum and peak me again! How do I handle this. He's in his late 50s, I've thought of reporting it to human resources, my hod or even just calling the president of the coy, will anyone believe me?

My dear my advice is maintain a very very safe distance, pray every morning even if you don't believe in any religion, pray!!! As jobs are hard in Nigeria, also learn to give him the look of don't dare me, don't start talking to any one you are still new, look and see how others do it.

How you will handle it is: put a slap to his facial edifice and let him tell them to fire you. He will explain on what grounds your appointment should be terminated. Dirty skunk. That's how my md is always telling me I'm fucking up and asking for hugs and stinky intimate favours. God will blast all their heads. Umu ewu. I hate dirty habits like this. They make my skin crawl. All horny bosses should take their perversion to sanusi fafunwa. Pricks.

Its always a delight when a movie scene has all the props of the "timing".I love the idea of pre independence car in the background!Unlike some nollywood movies were they go back 30yrs and someone makes a gsm call.if they remember to rule out cell phones,you can't ignore glo,mtn billboards on the streets,even when they colour the visuals black and white or sepia!
