Actress Doris Simeon recently opened a hair styling salon in Ikeja and hired the above pictured nursing mother to work for her and she excitedly shared the pictures on her social network page...........

And some of her followers are blasting her for employing a nursing mother...like WTF is wrong with that?...so nursing mothers should not work?

How do they earn their living?the lady pictured above can obviously not afford to take her kid to a childcare centre.

    4. Some pple just like to criticise celebs just for the sake of it. If we had heard that a nursing mother approached her for a job and she turn her down, na we go shout and cuss. Mschewww!! Nonsense. Well done Doris your shop is beautiful.

Her husband might b poor or not supportive, who knows?

    7. Is it because she is a hair stylist? Women go back to work max 2/3months after having a baby.

    8. She employed the nursing mother because she applied for the job,she no drag her by force to work for her.I believe the nursing mother is a good stylist that's why she employed her.People will always talk no matter what.

  2. The only wrong thing I see above is,d woman is not properly dressed. Even local salon operators look better than this. Doris shld have given her stylists a dress code if she wanted to run a classy salon. Plus, pple would have crucified her if she had refused to hire the woman cos of her baby, truth be told, not hiring a nursing mother would have been better for her business.

I honestly think Doris shud b applauded 4 offering a job 2 d lady...its so obvious d lady needs d job if nt 4 her sef den 4 her baby....On d dressing, I think dat wil improve wit time especially if she jus started work which I guess dat's d case....except if u expect Doris 2 pay 4 dia dressing as well

My thought exactly. I think doris shld hv a dress code. And for the nursing mother, ppl will alway talk, she get where to work nai she go meet doris fr job? The way some ppl reason at time still baffles me. Doris tried by creating employment. Stella, my take on this is that doris shld rather give her some days/hours off to enable her nurse her baby.

    5. There is nothing wrong but why not put the child inside her buggy when she wanted to take the promo picture . It makes the shop setting to look local.

    6. Nothing is absolutely wrong with that plz. The only thing wrong is the lady's dressing as Anom pointed out. People should plz get a life and leave struggling young guls be Abegi!! Metcheeewww...

    7. Pealie which buggy? Doris tried a beg other wise that babe will be on the street with her baby begging for arms. D only thing doris can do is create a space were the lady can keep d baby like a nusery.

    8. Miss Chidinma,(I'm d anon wt d coment u replied) I'm a lady too btw. What I mean by it being better for business if she didn't hire a nursing mother is,we knw hw babbies are, they want wat they want wen they wnt it. And I was actually applauding Doris for overlooking all that and hiring d mum. Refering to my family members was going too far,it's just a blog post for crying out loud. Anon 10.34. It's a work enviroment,a classy salon, not like d local one u use, they shld av uniforms.

  3. Noting is wrong wit employing a nursing mother. People just love 2 see demselves suffer. And wat about d girl who wantd 2 commit an abortion? Hope people are calling to help her? 4. I don't have a problem with a nursing mother earning a living for herself and her baby but for Doris to not care about her appearance is a no no for me.

Doris, how do you intend to attract and keep customers especially sensitive ones with your staff looking that way?

Start with getting them uniforms or have them dress well please.

    1. Seconded.
If shez hoping for her saloon to b a classy one dn she should strt with avin her employees dress well. No1 z sayin she shoulnt employ a nursing mother.

  5. If the nursing mother feels she can work then so be it. I feel Doris I doing her a favor by employing her cos most people won't. The woman needed the job and applied so what are people saying? Hia!
So a nursing mother can't work again cos she is nursing? Are those people making noise going to provide for her? Women that go back to work after 3 months maternity leave, are they not still nursing?

  9. Doris can ask her workers to wear a simple black jean and shirt..as we can all see,the baby wasn't even disturbing...

    ReplyDelete

    1. The baby is not disturbing because he/she is on d mother's back. I bet if she puts d baby down, it will be another matter.

      Delete
  10. Nothing wrong with her employing a nursing mother. But the woman should have been properly dressed since that is a beauty parlour, image and appearance matter alot.

    ReplyDelete
  11. There really is nothing wrong with hiring a nursing mother, as long as she takes her job seriously. Although she will be distracted some times, but that's quite understandable.

    ReplyDelete

  12. Doris should set a uniform standard of dressing for her staff biko. Tshirt and jeans.

There's nothing wrong in a nursing mother working. A nursing mother must feed her baby so Doris is probably helping her out by employing her. However, this is not Ikeja under bridge. A standard salon shouldn't have a stylist dressed so shabilly and backing a baby. It doesn't look well for the corporate image and the baby is bound to distract the mum. If I were Doris, I'd give the woman some money every month for day care fees.

Gosh i juz don't get it,if she doesn't employ her, they will call her meanie. 18. Its not wrong at all. The nursing mother was not forced nd for her to tk up d job means she needs d money. Its beta to work nd earn something than sitting at home doing notin nd waiting for 'oga' to bring money for everything.

  19. Well the woman needs to feed her baby...so she gotta work. theres nuffin bad

  20. I belief she did it on compassionate ground which is cool and thats sooo kind of her...its not easy having a nursing mother to work for you...she tried gaskia d only fin wrong is dat she isnt properly dressef

  21. Nothing wrong with a nursing mother that work' but the problem i have here is: 1, with the baby on her back like that she look's like she is working in a very local village salon, 2, what happened to dress code? the they can arrange a quite conner where mother's can keep their babies. Haba! this look's too local!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I dont know why people make noice about nothing...The truth is that, the customer whose hair is being done owns that baby. The stylist help to back the baby for comforbabilty sake ........The stylist is just being nice and nothing more....i know that sylist personally, she isnt even married talkless of having a baby.

  23. I really do not see anything wrong with it, cause this woman might be a single mother looking for a means to earn a living, just like the other girl in that other post
If she's not employed how would she take care of her baby?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ebenezer obey has said it all' there is nothing you do that will satisfy human'. Won't the nursing mother fend for her child again? She really has done a good job by hiring dis woman irrespect of her status even wen its not d best for her biz if she wants our so called classy salon

    ReplyDelete
  25. I totally agree with you on this.

    ReplyDelete
  26. i see nothing wrong with it, am very sure the lady wasnt forced to,moreover she sure looks like someone who needs it,aside from that doris fall hand cus i tot the saloon was suppose to ooze sophistication and classy, wonder why she no come give her stylist dress code

    ReplyDelete
  27. Employing a nursing mother is not a bad idea, but I don't like the woman's dressing and the fact that she's working with her baby on her back. She should have at least given them a dress code or uniform that's what classy saloons do. There should also be space for the woman to lay her baby not carryinh the child at the back and working.

  33. I don't have a problem with a nursing mother but I have a problem with her bringing her baby to work. She shouldn't do so. I won't let her make my hair cos she will be leaving every 10mins to look after her baby and when the baby starts crying nko?
    Not professional at all.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The nursing mother sought employment,No?
At least she chose to work to earn a living responsibly. If she decides to prostitute herself people would still have a contrary opinon.
Doris Simeon did well..the only problem is that the child would hinder the mother from carrying out her hair dressing services with ease.
    Thats all.

    ReplyDelete
  35. There is nothing wrong with it, as long as the woman doesnt feed or breastfeed her baby close to where a hair is been done, to avoid strands of hair getting in the baby's food!!!!

  37. Kudos to Doris for giving employment to people, however certain details shld not be ignored, dress code and cot place for d baby/babies

    ReplyDelete
  38. What is this very unprofessional not good for the baby

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's not bad.
    But it is very unprofessional.
    Some babies cry like pigs.
Apart from that, she'll be taking excuses to feed the baby and all that.
I dunno about others but once you remove your hand from my hair, i get pissed.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm all in support of nursing mothers working to end a living, especially those who are not financially secure.

However IN MY OPINION, nursing mother, and hair dressing salon? Come on....
    Those two don't mix.
I've had a couple negative experiences with nursing mothers handling my hair, and I had to finally abandon one salon when my hair almost got burnt, when a nursing mum almost burnt my hair while curling it cause she was rushing to attend to her baby.....if they can afford a sitter to watch the babies, so that the mothers can concentrate on hair dressing...then that's okay, but otherwise, its a bad idea...

Besides, I don't think that atmosphere is conducive for a little baby, its not always about making money, let's consider what would be good for the baby. Blow dryers, needles, flat tonging machines, rollers, oils and creams....someone is sewing hair and dragging the needle out in all directions, and someone is behind her with a baby on her back, how safe is that.

If you are kind enough to employ a nursing mother, pls create a small nursery for the baby(ies).

  44. Aint nothing wrong with nursing moms. She just gotta package well+ packaging d baby o. I for one, wouldn't want a nursing lady with mucus, vomit nd stuff touching my hair. It can nauseate me.
I wonder how I'l cope when I get married and hav kids.Heck! I culdnt even wash my niece/nephew's clothes or stuff when they were much younger. The only tym I tried,I puked. So imagine seeing that of a stranger's baby's. She just gotta package herself n babe well, that's all.

  45. Some people are natural complainant because they must see something wrong in every act .what's all these hype about dress code & all,a saloon is now a corporate environment Na Wah(do you know the fee of the average creche around that area).Nigerians are always more westernized than oyinbos who go on one year maternity with pay. This kind of beings ll tell you to resume work when your baby is ill because nobody ll do your job.sad as it is women are their own worst enemies.if Doris now fires her because of their comments, they ll still come out to condemn her. We should try our best to impact positively into other peoples' lives.

    ReplyDelete
  46. So because she is a nursing mother, she shouldn't work abi?people will always talk rubbish cos there is one sugar daddy dishing out money to them,so they can afford to say such.I hail Doris Simon(davris,is going to grow)amen.

  47. cry like pigs? Shey the ones you live with cry ni Mr Ezekiel?

  48. How old was Mercy Johnson's baby when she went back to work and even took the baby on set with her? This woman obviously doesn't make a lot of money and can't afford a babysitter so she brought her baby to work. If Doris didn't offer employment to this woman, we'll be the same group of people criticizing her for discriminating against nursing moms. So kudos to Doris. I'm sure the 4 months pregnant girl we all read about yesterday will be glad to get a job as a shampoo girl in Doris's saloon now.

  49. Kk bk to d mata, my problem is not Doris, or d woman, infact Doris probably made her life better, my problem is d poverty level in our country, where u hve poverty u hve lack of option, d available becomes d acceptable, it ought not to be so, ds country is too blessed for such situation to be seen as normal, that environment is not good for that child at all, with all d chemicals the child will be constantly inhaling in that saloon, that I knw is not good for d child's health, but like I stated earlier d available is now d acceptable, it my desire to stir something up in every one of us,to activate something in us, to reject anything less than success, it is one thing for our leaders to fail us, it is another thing to fail our sefs, let everyone of us decide to begin engaging our minds into profitable thoughts, let's begin today, planting good seeds in our minds, by reading quality materials on a daily basis, materials that can sharpen our skills n bring out d genius in us, start now. I LV U ALL

  50. Doris is cool for hiring her and allowed her to come to work with d baby. Many employers won't let alone bring d child along coz they believe d baby would be a distraction. Show she has empathy in her. Looking @ d woman, u'll know she's going through a hard time. God bless u doris.

  51. There is nothing wrong wit that. For those saying that is not good for d baby, what about hunger? Is it good for d baby? Do u know if she has another means of livilihood? Dopris, may God bless ur hrt.

  52. There is nothing wrong with giving a nursing mother an opportunity to earn some bucks for a living. Things are hard in Nigeria. Survival of the fitest.

    Doris should be commended.

I would only advice she ensures her employees are well dressed maybe have them wear uniforms cos she is a public figure. Celebs who may want to patronize her maynot be comfortable with an "unprofessional outlook"

  54. There's absulotely nothing wrong with it, how will she survive? And then what's the difference between me that works in an office and have a little baby and her? As long as the baby does not suffer and her work does not suffer too, I'll say this Doris woman well done!

  55. Am an employer of 2 married women, one with 4 kids and d other with 3 kids. Before employing them, I employed a nursing mother with 3 months baby. At a point it got frustrating, cos the baby was just too demanding, the mother could hardly attend to clients cos d child was alws crying. That wasn't as worse as d baby's pee smelling all around d store. I had to sack her. The new mother of 4 is a thief. She's not honest, using my money to cater for her kids, I sacked her too. However, d present mother of 3 is trying. She has impressed me so far. With these, I will say there are good and bad sides to employing nursing mothers. Btw, am into interior decoration.
